We received the new 8.8" rear end with 3.55 gears, axles and driveshaft, all from Paramount / Builder Bill. Here are some pics of the components and pics don't do it justice ... it's gorgeous!!

$5500 for the rear end set-up like that. We're a Paramount dealer, if you need anything. :)

I just talked with Bill at Paramount and he is sending us another set of axles that are even more heavy duty, to handle massive amounts of power, and should be the most extreme set available. We'll have those on Tuesday probably so we won't be able to finish the rear today but will get it done next week and have the best possible rear end available, which is well worth the extra couple of days. Thanks, Bill. :)

First off, Congrats BMC and Rubbel on an awesome build and step by step updates. But I'm curious to know what is taking so long with the engine? I am sure once everything is in place it will be awesome....

Thanks Lisa, I would have guessed a lot more than that! It's good to know about BMC being a Paramount dealer. Thank You

We are still waiting on engine and transmission to be completed. The PPP engine contains a lot of elements. The Carillo 4340 forged rods were custom made due to dimensions not being shelf standard. Wiseco designed and made the pistons to try and elininate any hot spots at compression as this is a forced induction build. C1 and C2 cermaic coatings were used extensively. Large Ferrara valves had to be turned down to make the larger 2.125 and 1.625 sizes. The heads were bored to fit larger diameter pushrods. The block was O ringed after being decked. Some things were delayed waiting for other componet(s) to be completed first. The T6060 transmission is being completed by Rockland Standard Gear and I believe is the first T6060 they have replaced all the gears in. They do a lot with the T56 so they were willing to work on a T6060 for me. The new gears are AISI 9310 which is a high carbon steel capable of a good combination of hardness and toughness.
We are also waiting on a Kelver custom blanket for the bellhousing and transmission as well as a few other items. I originally thought I would be running in March or early April and now I'm hoping before July 4. I could never have imagined all the places this build has gone that were not obvious on day one. Without all the vendors who contributed their expertise and craftsmanship this would never have happened. PPP or BMC can probably add more corrected info but that's the basics of what has been occuring as we progress.

P.S. Builder Bill - Really Really Really NICE WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    amazing work by all!

Rubbel, I am far from a silver tongued devil so please don't take any of my questions in a negative way.

What is the "end product" to be? All out drag race build? Monster Street Car? Show Car? Cause the build has aspects of all, except one item. Your wheels. I am not a fan of the gauge placement either (unless this is going to be a drag monster then I completely get it)...

I accept any point of view on what I'm building good or bad. Here is copy of a poster who didn't like the gauges but loved the wheels. Others hated the wheels. Personally up close and personal they really are a work of art. Pictures don't do them justice IMO.

Once staged, only the programable shift light next to the mirror will be used to set the optimal shift point in each gear. We tried to fit gauges on the A pillar but even cutting down the pods there was no room. Safety has always been first priority so the gauges were moved to provide clear vision of the tree and the racetrack groove, as well as on the street visibility. I agree perhaps a custom set-up but maybe later in time. We are at the 5 month point in the build, and many, many choices have been required. Overall I am very pleased with where we are. I appreciate your input, both plus or minus. Some people hate the HRE wheels, but I say look at them up close and personal and they are a work of art. Different strokes for diff. folks. After safety priority #2 is FUN and both Lisa and I have enjoyed doing this major build. Trust me when I say there is more to yet be revealed. Enjoy watching and please feel free to express your viewpoint. Lisa's hands are somewhat tied by what I want done, and we are both constrainted by NHRA rules and plain physical limits. In the end the information provided by all these gauges is essential to making decisions on the state of the engine set-up just prior to making a pass. I'm hoping to run in the 9's so there is no time after launch to watch gauges, as we should be close to 120 mph in under 6 seconds. I just wanted to provide my perspective and encourage you to add your inputs, regardless of what they may be. All of us can always learn more.

I hear you man, but with the gauges all the way off to the right its going to be very hard to read..I have gauges right in front of me and they can be a b1tch to read...if something is going to go wrong its not going to be while your staging...its going to be while your hall assing down the track...

i personally would love to see this, maybe something matching the color and material of the factory dash...

I personally love HRE wheels..."BIG MONEY"...I think you made a good choice..can't wait to see them when the car is sitting at a lower height.

Point taken.....Its a public forum and this is the type feedback that people should expect. Being as though this is a big build, your going to get all types of replies...I like somethings about the car and some are not my cup of tea.....But thats why I built my own..."""

I plan to drive this car on the street part time and put it in some shows as well. But most choices were made for running on the track. The first priority on this build was just to have a lot of fun and build a safe and hopefully fast car tastefully. that last word obviously means different things to different people. But already I have a lot of fun, learned a lot, and met lots of people and the car isn't even done yet. I feel good how everything is going down. Don't have to be fastest or win a show trophy but both would be nice to do. If I have fun with this then I will have been successful!!!

THAT, sir, is the most important piece. Aside of you being happy with what you have accomplished. After all, it IS YOUR whip. hehe

I agree with Ron, it is all about what you want. I am just not good with the words and such. So when I ask a question sometimes it gets taken the wrong way.
