Well I have been thinking about this for some time while watching IAT temps go up into the 150*'s at times and being close to 100* on the freeway when it was 65-70* outside.

I knew the in fender CAI units worked really well but having a 90mm throttle body made this really tough cause it requires a 4 inch tube and the hole going into the fender is only 3.5 inches

I had taked to Steve at RDP several times about it and he had some ideas on how he would do it so yesterday I took a ride out and let him do what he loves to do...Fabrication especially Tig welding

    Well heres how it went

    Thats the goal cool

So far what I have seen is on the whole way home on the freeway the IAT stayed between 8-11* above ambient. Temp was 69-71 and IAt's were 77-82*

I sat at the traffic light on my exit for awhile and the temps creeped up to about 100* but as soon as I started driving they dropped down to 90* going about 30-35 mph and not far

When I got off the main road on the side streets with alot of stop and go it rose back up and I drove it into the garage at 104*

Only drove to the store today no freeway and temps with stop and go no more that 25-30mph temps took awhile to go up but were going up and down mid 80's to mid 90's....always as soon as you accelerate temps start falling

Before this intake temps would just keep going up and never really recover.

I will do more testing, I didn't need to be sold on this type of intake as soon as I started logging IAT's more and more, I could not believe the temps I was seeing with the filter in the engine bay. I would have had it before I just didn't have the ability to make it happen with the 90mm throttle body.

The IAT's were something in the past I never even looked at and when I finally did it was eye opening

What really put the boot in my ass to do something is when I seen at the track when it was in the 40's and I let the car cool way down , when I started my runs ansd the IAT's were around 70* at the geginning of the run my 60fts were 1.60-1.61-1.62 and a few weeks later whe it started getting into the 60's my IAT's at the start of the run were around 100* my 60fts were 1.71-1.72-1.74

As I said before eye opening for me high IAT's loosing one tenth in the 60ft alone

Good info. So in your opinion with your new found info, what CAI would you get with a stock tb?

Nice job on the fab work!

It's interesting to see the difference in temps you've logged because all the MFO's would have you believe that isn't the case.
