yep, i think i have pretty much confirmed my recent issues with the car. for those that remember my recent post on issues with the car upon tuning for the new blower, many thought it was a convertor issue. well, i showed the dyno sheet to cam, he felt pretty confident it was..... then yesterday i pretty much confirmed it..... slow turn onto open street hit the pedal firmly.... drops a gear and gets ready to take off..... all at once.....major shuddering takes place and i feel as if the trans is about to fall out of the car!!!! now i can feel the car kinda "slipping in and out" of lock up..... anybody got a line on a good convertor for a blower equipped 6.1!!! lol
That really SUCKS BALLZ Chris. Sun Coast Convertors is in your neck of the woods. I have been running mine for nearly three years, issue free.
thanks for the heads up on that one ron!!! yeah, does kinda suck!! the good part is i know what the issue is...... the shitty part is that i know what the issue is!! lol
That sucks Chris. I highly recommend the ProTorque 2800 Stall. Never heard of anyone having an issue and alot of blower cars are running them
I'm glad it looks like you've found the problem. Of course if you'd taken that log like you were going to do a WEEK AGO we could have told you that. That's ok. There's still opportunity left for discussion and speculation! Lock up is controlled by the TCM. That means there's got to be an electronic solenoid somewhere. How do you know it's not just a matter of replacing that? Where is that anyway? That internal to the TC?
Well... let's say it's the solenoid and you can get to the electrical connection. Look! we do have a solenoid just for lockup.
So the question is. If you disabled the solenoid (cut power to it?) would it be full on or full off (off is what we want). 1) can you get to it? 2) can you disconnect/disable it? 3) if you did, would it be fully engaged or fully disengaged (fully engaged would be bad...)? You don't need a lockup anyway. It's only for a little fuel economy. Driving the 3 miles to the office and back every day (when it's not raining) it would take you about 27 years to notice the difference.
This is looking really straight forward. You could probably knock this out in a couple of hours. If you disable the valve mechanically you won't even have to mess with any wiring. You could go either way. Here's the how-it-works overview Here's how the assembly pops off of there. (#2 in the bottom figure is the electro-hydraulic control module) Here's how you disassemble it. (#9 is the one you're interested in) and skipping a few of the really obvious and tedious steps, here is the mechanical valve! (#13 is the one)
Ahhhh shit Chris....I feel your pain. I CAN TOTALLY IDENTIFY WITH YOUR PROBLEM. And sounds like you got some knowledgeable guys on your side that can help.
Woooooooo, hold on there ball bag. You've owed it for 3 years................put it's only been running for 9 months  LMAO Less than Rons................................BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Naw, Chris's ride is a early, early SRT. I'll bet you anything that the he has water in his tranny from that damn seal leaking like everyone elses. We talked a couple night ago and when he goes to change the verter, he'll check the pan for water. He'll also have the seal repair kit handy when he's doing it just incase.
you kill me dave!!! ummmmmmm, actually i have not checked it! i think i might go and buy a miller tool soon!! would be funny as hell to see this be the issue all along!!! dahahahahaa i am not sure that would explain the drop off of the tq curve on the dyno..... would it???? cam...any thoughts???? thanks buddy!! yeah, it is very nice to know i can pick what is left of the brains of some very smart guys!!! 35K hey nut sack...... i have 35k on my car now.....yeah, i started driving it a bit more!! lol ahhh bite me!!!! :thongue2: yes, i had the seal tsb done.... cam, i did not think the seal you were talking about was the same one as the leaking tsb one that came out years back. i had the seal tsb done on the car, but that is a different seal i thought, than what you were describing to me..... i think anyway???? lol
