We all build our cars with a goal in mind, mine is to have a ten second Jeep. I know it will be hard and I know lots of us are trying to achieve the same goal. I have made several passes on my Jeep when it ran. I have some hard competition over here on the west coast, by some very competitive people (Sarge and Paulie). I started my mission with heads and cam. Of course after learning so much from these forums, I decided to start the modding. It start with the idea of getting the air to travel, so I went what I thought was best in the market and called up Steve for some Mondello heads. I ran the heads with the Spartan cam and full exhaust, but this was not enough to compete. I ran constant 12.4’s and a best of 12.3 with this set up, but yet not enough. I even sprayed a 100 shot through my engine and yet it was not enough, yielding an 11.8. Both of these guys have kick ass Jeeps to say the least. I decided to push my luck and purchased the Vortech for my Jeep that lead to 3 bad pistons, but that’s a whole different story. This caused me to be put in a bad position. I figured it would happen, but not as soon as it did. Figured it was time to look for a block and I knew I wanted to keep a force induction build. Steve had a 426 that he offered me and I told him I would take if off of his hands. After continuing to research I found an opportunity that was hard to refuse, and back out of the deal with Steve. Did feel bad a man of my word, but spending the coin I was going to drop I figured a local shop would be wiser choice to assist me on my build. Being only 30 miles from my house I decided to turn to Techco. I figured it was a better decision to go this route because they would build my engine and build my blower, and if anything went bad I wouldn’t have to pay hundreds of dollars for shipping. I have heard mixed reviews, but after talking to them in person they seem like chill and passionate guys over there. I can tell you they are just as excited as I am about my build. There facility is just insane and the part I like the most everything is pretty much done in house. Carlos and Ned have been very helpful through out this process and Bill seems like a very knowledgeable guy. Also assisting my build is Paramount Performance with awesome driveline parts and unbelievable customer service. Thanks Bill As soon as my Jeep is done it will be off to Crank This Performance, for some gauges, drive shaft loops, and installation of my roll cage. Thanks in advance Cam. Also, I will be running the Mondello 1st generation heads, that were built for the Icharger, I know, I know, but these heads were made to go on the drift challenger with a twin screw. Thanks Steve and Mondello Lastly, want to thank Lonnie (whitehemi) for his assistance pulling the engine out and replacing the tranny. Can’t forget about you bud. Well the heads look to be 2 weeks out getting new springs, and cleaned up. The engine is in its final stages and should be ready in about a week, and I believe the Techco blower will be ready to feed the Techco 427. I will keep you guys informed as the build progresses and track times will be posted. Damn this was long, Sorry. Lol “Techco Blown 427 coming Soonâ€
That was a great read!!! You'll get there my fellow 20's club partner in crime lol Nothing better than a 10 sec daily driver You are going to keep my pockets empty man, staying on par.....got my tranny coming in 2 weeks, and then heads and cam.... Haven't decided on a 426 shortblock yet..... You better roll with me to ALMOST every irwindale test and tune and EVERY Famoso Friday night test and tune....there will be no excuses.....hell u can crash at my place on the way back since you'll be 2 1/2 hours from home at midnight when famoso gets out....I got your back buddy Let me know if you have any questions about anything I'm no expert but I do have connections You definitely are hooked up with the best of the best! Sarge, Lonnie, Cam, Techco...... I say get Techco's tune then sometime later this year run up to Bob @ SVS for a holy grail tune(no offense to techco's tuning) Looks like you are going to surpass me with your build but I won't be far behind you! You gotta beat my times first! With your techco 427 blown I'd estimate some easy 11.2's depending on your boost level....not sure what Trojans boost was but you may need an extra pound to make up for the weight difference..... Quite soon it will be time to make some SICK VIDEOS!!! Carlos is a great guy and Techco is top notch but it's just not in my best interest to swap blowers......but I'm still going to make some kickass videos of your Jeep for Techco ya know I'll tell you one thing....you being the most dynamic mind changing dude I ever knew u better not get rid of your Jeep anytime soon or I'll fuck you up kid lol How's that for a reply? All on my iPhone.....while laying next to a naked girl sleeping in her bed lol Call me later
Oh btw DCX should have their billet triple pump fuel basket done very soon.... Staying in Tim and always bugging him about it
Good luck man its tough to do with a Jeep, need to overcome the weight and lack of aerodynamics up top, looks like your taking the steps needed to. Get the 60' down to 1.4-1.5 and your there as far as up top you know as well as I do the damn aerodynamics are brick to say the least. I remember driving my Jeep and I would hit 110-120 and it felt like I was being held back, used to drive me nuts!!!!
We look forward to working with Sarge, Lonnie, Cam on completing your build. Looks like in a couple weeks you will be along side Paulie at the tracks!!!! We cannot wait!!!!
Awesome read. Glad all is coming together for you and I look forward in hearing your "It's finished" reviews.
