Going to be putting the same vinyl Jesus has on the side of the car:

I personally have never done vinyls before. What all do I need?

    -Sponge
    -Hair dryer/ heat gun
    -Bucket of water
    -Patience

    Anything else?

I also plan on claybaring the area so there will be no containmants in that area.

Whats a good way to to start to apply it? Its on a flat surface so that should help a ton.

    Thanks for any help.
    Edit:
    Found this quoted from Figs:
So basically just keep it wet all the time and it won't stick? Soudns easy enough. I think I might of answered my own thread. me = tard lol

Completely clean and dry the area you want the vinyl to lay on.

I suggest you get out some masking tape and lay it out and review placement. then lay the graphics using the masking tape as a guide.

I am not a fan of vinyl, mostly because you have to do your own work and I shake like Michael J. Fox

laying vinyl is easy. the directions you have are pretty much all you need. just make sure the area is cleaned. when applying it i used a squart bottle to mist the car along with the back side of the vinyl which makes it semi sticky and but wont compelely stick to the side. make sure you have another person to help you when putting it on. then squegie the water out.

the only time i need a hair dryer/heat guy is when your trying to wrap the vinyl. ie. hood scoop, nose, trunk lip/brakelight, and rear license plate.

Doesn't it need to be wet? So clean area and then spray the car with soapy water and the backside of the sticky side of the vinyl with water.

LMAO @ Michael J comment.

this is all it is. 2.4 stickers go on last (got an extra one)

It doesn't need to be totally wet. The moisture just makes getting the airbubbles out pretty easily. I use 70% isopropyl alcohol and water instead of soap becuase if you use too much soap, it'll take forever to squeegee all of it out. Take a starndard size squirt bottle (32oz) and a 16 oz bottle of alcohol, pour in 1/2 the alcohol(8oz), and the rest warm water. Masking-tape up where you want the vinyl to lay, then peel the liner back, spray the vinyl surface and the car too9just a decent mist), lay it down where you want it (you can peel it back up) and then squeegee it down firmly, pressing all the liquid to the edges. The alcohol/water mixture will allow you to get all the bubbles out very easily, and when you've squeeged everything, just peel off the tape and you'll be done, It dries very quickly. Use a safety pin to get out any left over bubble under the vinyl. Good idea to claybar the area first, it'll remove any road debris as well as any existing wax you may have there. Good ruck!

Yeah I see there is a dry method that you only get one shot at and the wet method so you can move it around.

I will use alcohol/water mix instead of soapy water. Thanks for that tip. =)

Would reg hard-tap water work or would distilled water work a bit better since its free of contaimants?

Warm (or hot) tap works fine. As long as your water runs clear, you're pretty much in good shape. I do these sort of installations about 4-5 times a day everyday and use regular ol' tap water and I haven't had a come-back yet. Just take your time, measure twice, and apply once!

Check Oracal, Avery or 3M for the vinyl. They have it and I 've used it. The 3M vinyl has channels in the glue too, so it make getting air bubbles out a breeze. With matte and satin vinyl, installation is standard issue, but removal is a PITA... If you're seriously thinking about wrapping your car, make sure you're sure about doing it. If you need links to the mfrs, let me know, I gots em.

Well I have some Isorypl (sp) 70% alcohol water mix. That won't the ruin the adhesive? These are just 2 layer. I was doing searching just to make sure and what I gather it ruins the adhesive... We are doing it today.

No, it won't ruin the adhesive, I promise you. I've been using the mix I recommended doing clearbros and decal work for about 13 years and it has never ruined the glue. Good luck today! Post pics, I subscribed...

Well fail, it was all prepped and everything. Just couldn't see through the damn white to line it up right. I was hungry, sun was blazing on my face, a stupid go-kart was going around the block a million times, friends neighbors were getting drunk making a ruckus and well the pass side is ruined so they are off. I am just going to order a side and have someone who has been around the block do it. I had no patience.

The wet method is the best method to use when applying large graphics. This method most graphic/vinyl shops recommend you use.

To install a graphic as such and like I did you will need another person to help you.

Doing the wet method reduces the chance of bubbles and gives you the ability to adjust/move the graphic giving you the ability to hopefully get it right the first time.

Small graphics/decals I have always done the dry method. At first I was going to try the dry method on this graphic but realized it would not work and I would have ruined the graphic.
