http://synapseengineering.com/smf/index.php?topic=357.0 bunch of videos my friend and I made of how it leaks... Whats your opinion on the whole situation after reading that thread? Should I try to get my money back even though they sent me a new one that only leaks at the adjustment screw? Or should I just try to sell it and get a Tial? My buddy is great at welding and can cut the flange off the hardpipe and weld a Tial one on there. (My friend is obsessed with Tial and he said I should of went that route in the first place.) But I wanted to try something different. This is how I have the Synapse hooked up: Port C is a boost only source. I ehar people "T" ing it into the WGA line, I can't do that since I am on PCM controlled boost and my WGA line is with the solenoid. I think I need a vacuum block lol
i would get rid of it. the mazda guys said it leaked on their cars too. dcr was using it on the red shed and they liked it (not sure if its still on there or not). i like the tial too and thats most likely the one i will get also.
From what I have been told is the tial's only work well with the bigger turbo's. And you are still on the small side. I am running a black HKS and it works beautifully. No leaks, good response time never had a problem with it.
yea i have the same but silver and a buddy of mine has the Synapse without no issue well i take that back he fucked up one of the vac fittings but they replaced it for free so no complants
Let me guess. He over tightened it and it broke. Same thing happened to me after I was trying to fix all the leaks in the first vid. He boost leak tested it? It seems not many people ahve boost leak tested this BOV and I seem to be the first one. I do like the Synapse. I just don't udnerstand why it leaks. Is that normal for a BOV to leak from that adjustment port as in my last videos on the 2nd page? Another local said I should take the adjustment screw out and put liquid teflon on it. Not sure about that. What bothers me the most is they claim all of them are tested up to 100psi...Then why is it leaking then? Boost leak test different? I have it hooked up wrong? :stars: I don't really want to trade. If I do get an HKS it will be a new one. I didn't know the Tial's were for bigger turbo's.. I do have to say though I do not get any flutter or surging of any kind. I do hear it SHHHHHHHH'ing before I start hitting + boost pressure then you hear it shut up.
sell it and get a hks, greddy type-s (not rs) or a turbonetics raptor. the trade on the hks is a pretty good deal, they are designed really well and dont wear like the normal valve type bovs. or you could go back to the mopar surge valve... the synapase is very finicky and requires detacated sources for both lines and fine tuning. EDIT: i just read the link over at the other forum...what has agp had to say about this?
Well what I ahve read aobut it there really is no tuning at all with the synapse... But I see what you mean about all the damn vacuum lines.. I mean look at my vacuum diagram theres a ton of T's going to the damn TB. Only if you have a MAss airflow sensor. Haven't talked to AGP about it at all. Knowing them they will tell me to contact Synapse so I was a step ahead. I jsut feel kind of bad because I sent out the one that was leaking really bad and they sent me out a new one free of charge with a prepaid label for the leaky one. I will give them a call tomorrow.
ill look for where the mazda guys were having issues with the synapse. they have to get the recirc kit so maybe that had something to do with it, i just thought it was strange i read that there and now you mention it. as for the tial, thats the first time i hear they are for bigger turbos. they are pretty popular on calibers with them and ssq's being the top choices. our turbo is relatively close to the nsrt s3 turbo so i dont see why it wouldnt work. ill check the the mazda stuff tomorrow.
Yeah I hear people have problems with the recirc crap too. I would for sure not get it if I had to have one of those stupid things. Haven't called them yet. Still not sure on what I want to do.
AGP was pretty cool about it, Jon told me to adjust the screw and turn it a 1/4 of a turn or so. Not sure if that will do anything but we shall see. Gonna do yet another boost leak test on it today.
