well, i recently purchased 100sq/ft of fatmat sound deadening for $79.99, on ebay. i've used dynamat every time in the past, but this time i didn't feel like paying for the name. so i did a little research and found fatmat would work perfectly for my future plans. i could of use second skin, dynamat, hushmat, and etc, but i want to find something that would work just as good as the big names for less the price. we all know that the industry is killing the consumer with the ridiculous prices, when it's foil and rubber/asphalt mixture. my only concern was adhesion and smell. the fatmat has a slight asphalt smell, but it's going away.
well, i spent the last two days installing fatmat in all 4 outer door shells and face. the entire trunk (top/bottom) and including the entire rear fenders. i ordered more to do the roof, jams and floor.
the result, is amazing. i have the stock nav with the kicker sub and it now sounds like i just spent $3000+ on a new system. i should know i've spent more in the past.
so this is a must do, for such little $$$ and awesome results.
sorry, i didn't take pix of the doors and panels are back on. here's pix of the trunk...

the added weight for the 100 sq/ft is 31lbs. i still have enough for under the rear seat and top of the rear deck.

That's something I could see myself doing. How difficult was this to install? I've never done any of this. About the closest thing is when I hacked my trunk up to install the rear strut tower brace.

omg, i remember that one, lol. it's easy, self adhesion. you don't need to make it line up exactly with one another. just peel and stick. overlapping will just make it thicker and denser. the only hard part is maneuvering in tight and hard to reach places. it's straight forward and easy to do. you can do it yourself without any issues. my only concern is your cutting skills, lol, sorry had to do it. take care!

no joke! it's a HUGE improvement! i wouldn't say it, if i didn't mean it. it can be a lot of work, you just have take the time out and do it. IT'S A MUST DO!!!!!
the difference with the system is 120% better. crisp/clear, no vibrations, no distortions, and solid bass. i can crank the system ALL the way and still no distortions.

i ordered with ground shipping and got it 3 days later. shipped same day ordered. here's the link...

Jimmy, how does it help with interior exhaust noise? I like a little drone every now and then but the wife is a different story. I want to use that latter as a purchasing point! LOL

I just got issued a new Benchmade knife that has this projects name all over it....that is of course after a 12 pack of Budweiser!!

rick, awesome on the new knife, but i don't know if i'd mix that with a 12 pack. you don't want to make the same mistake twice, lmao.
yo, it'll get rid of most of your drone. but if you want to eliminate it, you should do the trunk and as much of the floor as possible. the rear would be the most important area to cover.

Awesome job again, Jimmy! That is sweet and I'll have to do this. Just have to find the time for this mod - it's an all-dayer.

you could in theory do any part of the car that you can reach. (see FreeBirdSRT's thread where he rebuilt his car after the crash...and he did EVERYTHING including the headliner)

we used to use this stuff when doing stereos and stuff...its amazing how much less road noise you hear when its installed

Def something to consider, especially if your cars a family mover or your just sick of road noise lol
