Who all build an engine with a warranty? Also, does anyone know how much boost can be ran through these engines without voiding the warranty??? Unfortunately my engine was removed today with 3 broken pistons. Could not believe my eyes, but just being honest.
That's a good question. Might be better aimed at each of our vendors. Modded engines usually don't have much of a warranty. Steve (sgtstanko) sells the Arrington, which I believe has some kind of warranty.
Oh gezzis bud. Give me a call tonight and lets talk about it. But I gotta say, it was the tune that got ya.
That SUCKS. I know EXACTLY how you feel though. lol As for these Warrantee's, you really need to read through the fine print. They are not what everyone thinks. Don't you have a Blower on your motor?
I think your issue may be a combination tune and boost. Either way, it sucks and I feel your loss. Hopefully you will be back bigger and better. Your motor build (CR to be exact) will depend on how much boost you want to run and who builds the motor. There are a few vendors on here that will do you right in an F/I engine build.
PPP or hhp u can always just order the 6.1 rotating assembly it will be slot cheaper to do and u can run all the boost u want. I remember it a student and I know a 426 is not in the budget right now and throw some water meth on it too. That stuff saves engines!!!
#3 piston had a broken ring land and ring, 1 and 5 pistons the ring land was broken about an 1" maybe an 1 1/2" #3 combustion chamber fairly beat up..... #3s exhaust valve boss was white and 1,3 and 5 exhaust valves were white to, someone wasn't watching EGTs. Erick is a really cool guy sucks this happened, Look on the bright side Erick, you'll finally beat the snot out of Steve...... You might have gave him a run for the money if this didn't happen?
PPP/ERL has a 3yr/36k warranty, but I think Andy told me under or no more than 10psi boost with my turbo. Oh, and tune by AJ hemituner after the new engine gets installed. You'd have to get in touch with him and discuss your own situation.
The short block assembly is one of the most critical procedures in any engine build. No one understands that better than Power Ported Performance and ERL Performance. ERL Performance was founded with machinist and tool & die makers that have manufactured anything from precision gauges to jet engine parts. Their ability to utilize equipment, tooling and knowledge from these areas simply isn’t feasible for standard engine shops. In an industry where close is good enough, PPP and ERL take a different approach. We believe the best method is a solid foundation. If the block and short block assembly is done right, then bolt on power upgrade can be added in the future. As your desire for performance increases, the money can be spent on the upgrade and not on the short block again. All of our builds start with bare 6.1 block from Mopar. This is the same block that is running in excess of 800hp in other vehicles across the country. The crank is micropolished using a 15 micron belt, cleaned and checked using mitioyo inspection gages. With all of our blocks being align honed, the bearing bores for the crank are perfectly straight and sized to match the crank journal diameters. The align honing is a step that the majority of industry chooses to skip due to added costs. All of the bearings are miked for thickness and matched to each journal/bore combination to achieve perfect clearance. No plastigage is used, due to inaccurate reading. We offer several connecting rod choices depending on the intended use of the engine. No short cuts are taken due to the rod being the second highly stressed part in the engine (behind the valve spring). We offer the rods with different journal sizes, 1.850, 2.000, and 2.100, as well as .866 and .927 wrist pin options. The Carrillo rods are the top of the line offering and are the same as used in pro race cars. Each rod is inspected, re-torqued for repeatability, and sized for exact clearance. Whether you choose a shelf stock or custom piston, we can provide it. Wiseco is our primary choice, but we will use any that you prefer. Each piston is miked, pin fitted and inspected. The cylinders are torque plate honed to fit each piston. Each piston ring is file-fitted to the cylinder it is going in for an exact ring gap to minimize leakage. The assembly is done one at a time using dedicated tooling and inspected after each step. The same dedication goes into a street engine as goes into our race only engines. A documented blueprint sheet is provided with each assembled block. It is possible to throw the parts together and run for a while, just as you can drive on a bent rim if you put enough weights on it, but we choose to do it right the first time for maximum horsepower and durability which is also why we are one of very few companies to back our blocks with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. PPP/ERL Performance shortblocks come standard with ARP main and head studs as well as Wiseco's top of the line GFX rings which include a 1.2mm Alloy steel gas nitrided postive twist top ring, a 1.2mm cast iron phosphate coated taper faced under hook second ring, and a 3mm 3-piece oil assembly stainless steel flex vent spacer and chrome faced rail Oil ring. The pistons are 2618 alloy with strutted skirt designed to run as little as .004" clearance with excellent skirt wear and minimal noise or rock. The valve pockets are radiused for detonation resistance and increased flow around the valves. Anti-detonation grooves give the added benefit of keeping the top ring groove free of carbon. 3mm oil rings for better oil control and reduced friction for more horsepower. Pressure grooves for enhanced ring seal. Chrome Moly pins and spiralox (tool steel pins optional). Skirt coatings for lower friction, reduced noise, and superior life. Below are some pictures of our shortblocks as well as pictures of the different pistons used in our standard offerings. While our shortblocks may cost more than the competition, in this industry, you very much so get what you pay for and we stand behind every single engine that goes out the door. Each of the 3 shortblocks carry the same 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Stage 1 PPP 392/426 shortblocks: $5631 Does not include ARP Main or Head Studs. Core must be in good shape, if we have to deck the block or hone the main journals, there will be an additional $450 charge. Stage 2 PPP 392/426 shortblocks: $6136 Includes ARP Main/Head Studs, Block is decked and main journals are honed. Stage 3 PPP 392/426 shortblocks: $6877 Include everything in the Stage 2 block with the addition of Billet Main Caps for 1,000+ hp engines. This is the clean room where all final assembly of the shortblock takes place.
Andy what brand of cranks do you use. K1? Do you have any pics looking inside the engine from the oil pan in. So we could see what that looks like?
