Found this on another site: TRUTH IN ADVERTISING: BP vs. Royal Purple http://www.imakenews.com/lng/e_article001398592.cfm?x=bfmW6PM,b1v6g3vS NARC- National Advertising Review Council http://www.narcpartners.org/index.aspx (see April 1st report) I *knew* their claims sounded too good to be true. I almost feel bad for all the guys on forums running around believing their hype.
I tried RP once way back when on my '05 NSRT. Once was enough for me. Overhyped, Overpriced garbage. Mobil 1 has never left me down.
Well, they didn't say it was garbage... looks like it's on par with Castrol . Just costs a little more.
if my lawyer laden family has proven time and time again, any study can be made to say just about anything. personally, i havent run the stuff much in my charger, but i sure did in my stroked ls1s. never let me down at all.
Anything that gets a lot of snake oil style marketing (its a miracle!) tends to turn me off. So I'm not surprised so much as sorry for all the people who talked it up. After my experience with CAIs and Exhausts, I've decided to just shut up on performance and all because it just blows up in your face and everyone gets their shorts in a twist. Unless something REALLY sucks or I get REALLY awesome service, I try not to talk about stuff. Emphasis on try...stupid yapper...
Did anyone really beleive the better fuel economy and hp claim? Lower operating temps maybe, the other stuff I was like come on man do we look stupid or what? Royal Purple = FAIL
I used to use RP, but it's just too expensive. Considering I don't beat on my car much, and I change the oil every 3k miles...I now use whatever cheaper full Syntetic I find and have not noticed any lack of performance or drop in mileage since I switched.
Im still using it. im not having any problems with it. low priced in my area. no point in switching since ive been using it for the last 70K
