Can't wait to see what my beast puts down on RWHP and Torque? Going to have him check a few things too, timing, knock, etc. I will post up the results sometime in the evening.
If you are there tomorrow you'll see my car getting the new '09 Getrag LSD differential and upgraded halfshafts installed. I was going to get the car on the dyno too but Bob told me it was booked tomorrow:sly: You're in good hands there.
Yeah, I saw your ride! That new diff look sweet! You will have to report on how it performs. When I left at about 11:30 this morning, I think they where still waiting on the drive shaft. Bob and everyone there where really cool. My ride on the other hand, I was a little disappointed in. I would have like to seen a little better numbers than what I got, even after slight adjustments. Horsepower at the rear wheels topped at 370. Torque at the rear wheels peaked at about 362. I am sure this fine, but I was just hoping for a little more with a CAI on Magnaflow Catback.
I think Bob's Superflo dyno reads a little low compared to dynojet numbers. In my experience intakes and catbacks really don't add much power (yes I said it). You have a Diablo Predator I assume? If so I'd think you'd dyno a bit higher.
Yes, I also have the Diablo. I guess I was thinking it should have been about 390, but I could be just dreaming! So I guess the next question for me to find an answer to is what would be the cheapest way to get up to 400 at the rear wheels Mild Cam? Shorty Header? Not sure what the asnwer would be. I don't plan on running hard very much, but I would like it if i could about 400 out of my machine.
I don't want to depress you but I think I got 400 with your combo. Did Bob do a CMR tune or only a couple of tweaks? Did you get a dyno when your car was stock? As far as what to get next you might try hi-flow cats and an underdrive pulley if you don't want to go in the engine. Actually I thought I lost some power with the hi-flows vs. stock so I really can't personally recommend them. Some people swear by the ported throttle body but I've seen several people dyno them and only get like 2-3 HP if anything.
I am not sure if he did a "full" CMR (or even what the means really). I basically asked him to make sure that the timing, knock retard, air/fuel and those types of things where where they should be given my current configuration. I did ask him to not make changes for the sake of getting high dyno numbers. I just want to make sure it is running the way it should be. Question: If the vehicle is not completely square when it sits on the drums, can that have a negative affect on the dyno numbers?
I'm not sure about the sitting square thing. I'd ask Bob and I'd ask him about the numbers. Do you have many miles on your Magnum? What kind of intake do you have?
I talked to Bob when I was there and mentioned that I thought it would've been higher. I just turned 9,000 miles on my way back from Sac - about a 120 mile drive or so. I have the C&L CAI, a Jet TB Spacer (was on the car when I got it), Magnaflow Catback, and the Diablo. I am not saying that the numbers I got are wrong, I just thought they would have been a bit higher. I will have to eventually get out to the drag strip to see what kind of 1/4 mile time I can put down. Maybe I should start of list of not so expensive mods that will add some HP. I will have to do a search on the forums to see what is the best bang for the buck on upgrades that will produce more HP. I wanted to stay away from doing heads, and I don't want to do a supercharger, so I guess I will just have to research!
Good luck. Also try lxforums and do some searches regarding ported throttle body, high flow cats and underdrive pulley. All are pretty easy add ons and don't require you to crack open the motor. If you didn't get a CMR tune from Bob I think he has some pre-done tunes for cars with light mods. I'd ask him about that. I think he only charges $125 for a tune like that and I gain a couple MPH in the quarter mile (an indicator of more horsepower) with just an e-mail tune from him. I know we all have different goals but remember that a number on the dyno really doesn't mean all that much. Many dynos read differently and it would be hard to tell the difference in driving a car with 390 HP and the same car with 400 HP.
dont put too much stock in dyno numbers. i can hit 4 different dynos and get 4 different... very different readings. use it as a tool for tuning, i.e you got 370 this time add something and see what if any changes there are on that same dyno. imo im more concerned with what 1/4 times the car puts out. if i run 12's with a dyno saying 370 or run it with another dyno saying 400 it really doesnt make a difference does it, i still have a 12 second car. my point is dont feel bad if someone with a similar set up got different numbers than you on a different dyno. even on the same dyno its hard to compare. that being said, that front emblem in your avatar looks sick. where is it from?
I had a tune from GSM that showed 402 HP/400 TQ on their dyno but when I got to the track it ran mid 13s @ 104 MPH Ditched that tune and got a tune from SVS that showed 400/390 and that ran 12.80s @ 110. Made me realize the dyno isn't king.
