I know many of you know this happened and most don't. Below is the thread that George of AE Carbon started this morning. This will let you know something about all the help and support that was given to us. I will post up later about what happened.

I have so much respect and owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who helped out this past weekend.

Wow, really sorry to hear that Hal. So glad no one got hurt, that it was contained, and that it happened somewhere convenient.

Good time to throw this in... I've carried a fire extinguisher in every car I've had since I was a kid. lol, when I was a kid the first cars that myself and my friends had caught fire relatively frequently...

You can pick up small, inexpensive fire extinguishers at the parts store (I got a fancy looking chromed one). It's not a bad idea to have two. One in the front of the car somewhere and one in the rear. Not only does that give you a bit more capacity but your odds of at least one being accessible are much greater. These are for small fires, before they get to be big fires. If it's a big fire already you don't want to try to put it out, just get away from it.

It's one of those things you will probably never ever use. But if you have a need, it can make all the difference in the world. GET A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FOR YOUR CAR (while you're at it, get a couple more for your kitchen and garage).

Quoted because this seems like a really GREAT idea! I know two different families that have lost every thing when thier house burn down. I don't know if an extinguisher would have helped, but I also know I have a fire extinguisher in my garage, and probably should get one for each car.

I was very sorry to learn of your troubles, Hal. I knew something was wrong when I rolled into the DT at 4:30 am on Saturday and you and Joe were out looking under your hood like someone died. Thanks again for the help this weekend, you didn't have to but you did and you rock and you deserve all the help they gave you. Hope you get her up and running good soon and I'll be sure and take lots of pictures and video. :)

I looked at that picture a couple times .. I am kind of like confused with my feelings on this ...

First of, I have seen myself that the LX community is a very close group and its good to hear its all over the US. Hal, I am sure you guys were doing everything possible to get that car back up & running and you had some the most knowledgeable lx guys to help .. thats an amazing thing .. its so nice to have this family ...

Secondly, I dont know, I am a believer in responsibility and ACCOUNTABILITY .. now AE admitted to fault, hey congrats, thats a quarter of the battle .. you even apologized on the forum, that TO ME doesn't account for much. For a carbon fiber firewall cover that was in production for MONTHS it was said .. thats inexcuseable .. HIS FUCKIN CAR CAUGHT FIRE!!!! And come on, over a 1/4"?? The end of the fuel rail is burnt for christ sakes ..

Hal you should be thankful and pissed ...

The problem was caused from inexperience, lack of knowledge and overall negligence of a vendor ... accountability ... they were not on a tight time crunch, they said themselves, they had the car for a few months .. that problem should never have happened, and someone could have been hurt ..

lucky my opinion doesn't/shouldn't matter much ..

Glad you and Cindy are safe Hal. Cheers to the angel looking over you.

I am sorry you feel that way, we had a firewall in production for a few months and this firewall was a new design that we jut got done testing.

Accidents happen and Thankfully no one was hurt and the car will be repaired. I take full fault for the problem on my shoulders and will make sure everything is back to new or better. We have had a awesome working relationship with Hal and hope to continue to have one in the future.

Again this firewall was a new design that should have been trimmed back more we have addressed the problem and changed all the ones that are to be shipped and even thought of a new design that is easier to install.

I will say that while I wasnt in on EVERY possible thing that happened with it...

the AE Carbon guys were all over everything doing everything they could and at least to me they have taken responsibility....

It was an unfortunate accident but it was an accident....and they are working their asses off to ensure that things are right...

I understand your entire argument, but this is one situation where (at least in my opinion) this was a accident, and AE Carbon have stepped up....and will make things right, whatever that means....

Repair Hals car for one and finish the car off like we had discussed is all we can do for now.

in the end as long as Hal and Cindy are happy with the outcome and the products on the vehicle then we will be happy with the outcome and until then we wont be happy with anything less!

kudos to all that helped get it back together. props also to aecarbon for taking accountability.....for me, that speaks volumes for the kind of people running that company!!! i am quite sure all will be golden in the end!!!

AE .. listen I understand an accident ... accidents like mistakes happen, I know this also. I hope you guys learned from your mistake, but I am definitely not looking to bash you guys.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that you guys and the other vendors are "experts" in your own products. We depend on you guys to make sure our rides are safe and we also place a lot of trust in our vendors, you definitely showed that you stand by your customers when there is an issue ..

that being said, I hope I didnt piss you off too much .. if you would like a positive, his engine compartment did like phenomenal before the accident :thumb2:

Hal I am glad your safe and I hope your ride is back up quickly.

I am very easy going trust me my feathers are hard to ruffle I agree but when your doing something thats new its uncharted territory and thats what happened. I have seriously learned allot from this and have taken a step back and had an ephinany this trip.

I am a solo guy I design, style, make the molds, make the parts do it all (with some of joes help when he is not working) So I have allot on my shoulders in the end I have come to one conclusion that one project at a time from now on until its finished.

Otherwise i get distracted and overwhelmed. thats what happened costly mistake but never the less my mistake and I have no problem owning up to it. The firewall fitment has been solved (in fact that night we had a srt here for 4 hours finding and more possible problems )

I do understand your point of view!

Hals engine bay will look even better when we are done with it. Glad you liked it you can see why we were so proud to show it off and we even had a aefis intake made for it .

Hal and Cindy are awesome, the whole community is awesome all of you But the most awesome is Joe for pulling all the parts off of his personal car to make Hals work and standing by my side thru it all.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts. My car was delivered to AE Carbon tonight by Jim Rinehart of Mr. Norm's Garage. My 8 got a nice ride in a two car enclosed trailer towed by a beautiful Dodge Ram 3500 crew cab dualie.
Jim had brought a couple of Challengers to SpringFest for Mr Norm's. Chrysler took posession of them for future car shows. Jim was leaving empty and picking up a car in San Diego to take to Scottsdale, AZ. That's where his boss lives. Jim lives in Hudson, FL.
Another of the angels that came to our rescue.
