I would like to get my Magnum on a dyno in the up coming couple of weeks.

What are some shops between Bakersfield and Sacramento that would be good to go to?

I have the 91 CAI canned tune from Diablo and I would prefer to take by ride to someone that has experience with both LX's and Diablo Sport tunes and can do CMR.

Here are the names of some shops I know of so far - Please feel fee to add to the list. If anyone has any experience (FIRST HAND) with one these shops please let me know your experience etc:

    SVS - Sacramento, CA
Force Fed - Roseville, CA? Sacramento?
Performance Dyno Tuning - Oakdale, CA

AND PLEASE no B.S. like the SVS discussion from last August! :starwars:

Everyone is entitle to their opinion, but I would much rather hear from those with first hand knowledge.

    Thanks!

I would go to Force Fed first as they are a Supporting Vendor here, others have had success with them, and they are great guys.

SVS because several members have had good luck with Bob.

FYI, Keith at Force Fed locks his tunes to the programmer, Bob doesn't.

Tuners should lock their tunes. But that is a tuners option and has no baring as to places being good or bad.

In my opinion this is a pain because I like to load a bunch of different custom tunes on my predator (from different tuners) and when I load any new tunes it kicks all previously loaded tunes off. I assume I then need to visit my tuner to get the locked tunes put back on the Predator (versus having your tunes backed up on your home computer). If your tuner is more than an hour away this is a pain. Tell me if I'm wrong here.

Also if your tune is locked and you are having a problem that your tuner cannot or is unwilling to help you with you cannot get help from anyone else with that tune. You are really at your tuner's mercy.

You really have to trust your tuner in this situation because there could be some sketchy stuff going on in a locked tune that you would never know about. Your tuner can get you high dyno numbers but you could potentially have engine damaging values plugged in. No one else will ever see the tune so hopefully your tuner knows what he's doing and is ethical. If your engine blows they aren't going to pay for it.

I've got CMR tunes from both places. Just went to Force Fed this week and won't be to the track until Wednesday. I'll make my decision then as far as who has a better tune.

One thing I'll say about Bob is that he's tweaked my base CMR tune for free several times and each time I go to the track I'm going faster.

ummm, I have never had any of my tunes kicked off while uploading other tunes to the Predator.

The locked tune ensures that other tuners can not see or steal other tuners work. This is very common from tuners.

Yes, it can become a pain if the original tuner is unwilling to work on a tune, but such is life.

Again, just because a tuner locks a tune, does not mean they are a terrible tuner. They are merely protecting their interest.

I am sure you would protect your interest if you had something that was proprietary? I know I would.
Ok, after thinking about this for a minute...

Bud, when you say loading a tune, are you talking about trying to put two or more tunes into your PCM (from the Predator), or are you saying when you try to "Save" two or more tunes to the Predator itself?

It is impossible to try and load a second tune into your cars PCM.

If you are trying to save different tunes to the Predator and having a save issue, it could be that you are doing this incorrectly?

Here is how to load up to five tunes into the Predator.

I have 3 custom tunes on my predator now. If I load two additional custom tunes from my home computer to my predator I'm assuming I'll lose the three already on the predator. This has been my experience. I'll have to read the link you posted and see if there is another way.

Likewise I've bumped my cable while loaded a tune to the car and had to restore the original backup at the track. All customs tunes are wiped off the predator in this situation. Instead of just reloading custom tunes from my laptop onto the predator I would have to make a 3 hour roundtrip, assuming the tuner was open, to get my locked custom tunes back.

Ok, I know what is going wrong here.

If you want to add the other two tunes from the PC to the Predator, you MUST retag the three tunes that you already have in the predator (on your PC) along with the two new tunes.

So, when you are about to upload tunes from PC to Predator, you will have 5 total tunes highlighted. Does this make sense?

Again, a locked tune has no baring on saving tunes to the predator. A locked tune only means others can not open the files to see where the codes have been changed.

Bob at SVS tuned the Worlds fastest N/A Challenger and Jeep.......Trojan and Sarge

    Does that say anything?

I'll have Bob tune my ride after I get more mode and he's a 500 mile drive away

I thought locked tunes were married to the predator itself. So my tuner should be able to e-mail me locked tunes then to keep on my home computer?

Actually thats not true. At least not using the CMR software I've sat and looked over.

A locked tune CAN be read and viewed with CMR software. I've seen it done firsthand. What you can't do is copy and paste the information from window to window. So if someone wants to copy some other guy's tune, they'd have to copy cell value by cell value, which would be way too much work no matter how good the original supposedly is.

I'll cast my vote for Bob at SVS. I've racked up huge numbers of engine-hours on the race track and no issues of any kind. All 8 pistons still inside the block where they are supposed to be.

    hmmm

I agree with your observation, but also disagree. There are tables that other tuners will not be able to view. At least that is how it has been explained to me.

The main point I was explaining to bud, is that he can upload CMR (Locked) tunes into the Predator.

Oh, and WHERE the hell have you been hiding? BITCH! haha

Well from what I was told, straight from the source, its all there for you to look at. You just can't copy. Maybe he isn't so interested in copying anyone. Especially from what I hear when someone brings him one of those and asks him to do it right for them this time.

And thats Mr. Bitch to you, Fokker.

Work has been totally kicking my ass. I just knocked off a few minutes ago and now its time to hit the road. Gonna try and roll down PCH for a few miles and see if I fixed my leaky fuel rail properly. First time I've bee out and free during daylight hours in a while.
