If we can get enough people willing to commit to the purchase of 25 sets or more we can get Hoosier Drag Slicks in 28" dia. 10" wide for a 17" rim. This would allow keeping the big brembo's while running full slicks. If you would buy a set please post here.

Are we talking slicks or radials??. If it's a true slick, hell ya, I'm in.

I misread the initial post, thought it'd said 26" tall, let me make a phone call to Hoosier, if they make a 28" tall tire, the dodge truck community would benefit also. I don't want to step on any other vendors toes also.

So has anyone caculated what gear and at what RPM you might cross the finish line at? Not all cars will cover it at the same time, due to weight, power, etc.

There's alot more science involved than just picking out a size.

You make a good point about what is the optimal size for any one's particular situation. The drag tire manufacturers do not make any slicks that are larger than 16" wheel size and there are many people driving LX/LY cars and Dakota trucks that would like to have a tire that fits their cars without modifications to the brakes or wheel well. The purpose of my post was to find the level of interest in a 28" tire that would fit a 17" rim and eliminate brake or wheel well modification. Obviously one size will not fit all but this appears to be a good compromise for the LX/LY/and trucks. There are several people running drag radials of comparable size and I wanted to see how many may be interested in having slicks available as an alternative. I did not intend to add issues such as a driveshaft loop or other improvements and considerations one might want to make before switching to slicks. This post was to determine if there is enough interest in this tire size to make a group purchase and supply something currently not available.

How much growth would be anticipated in a 28" slick? It may turn into 28.5 to 29, maybe bigger. That would be a benefit to an adder car.

I have the Nitto 305/45-18 which is about 29 inches tall. The work pretty good on a 9" rim. I'm going to try the M/T's in the same size. Should be stickier and not need to be heated up as much as the Nitto's.

Tire growth is something very difficult to predict due to so many variables. For a 28" x 10" x 17" wheel would use a 8"-10" width looking at Hoosier specs for comparable tires.

Using a speed calculator the theoretical speed for the T6060 6 speed with final drive of 3.92 are (rounded off)
    1st 43
    2nd 60
    3rd 87
    4th 127
    5th 172
    6th 255

Drag, weight and horsepower will limit the actual speed.

FYI my custom tranny with final drive of 3.92 theoretical speeds are

    1st 42
    2nd 64
    3rd 94
    4th 127
    5th 149
    6th 174

Looking forward to how this works out. Looks like you will be trying to cross in 4th. Aren't 5th and 6th overdrive gears, or at least they where on a stock one.
Sounds like you might need something a little taller than 28.

We are already working on this, hence the reason I asked rubbel to see what the interest level is. I will have finalized pricing today.

Shouldve stated that in the first post that a vendor was already working on this, i also posted "i hope i am not stepping on any other vendors toes".

    Dline;

I did post that I was working with a forum vendor but that was posted on a different forum and not made clear here. That was why I emailed after your post last night to hopefully eliminate any confusion I may have created. I sincerely apologize if I mislead you in this matter. The purpose of this post was to determine interest in this size of slick.I felt it prudent not to specify the vendor name until the level of demand was determined on several different forums.
