Ok...so I'm about to change my oil for the first time on the SRT-8...I just bought a bunch of 0W40 euro spec from Autozone....mobil 1 of course.

Should I take it back and get something else?? A lot of opinions in this thread.

I think I'm going to use the 15W40 Diesel Mobil One next. I've got my second oil change since the new motor was put in. Just running straight 30W now.

How abotu a filter for your oil?
Anyone runing a billet filter by Pure Power or Trufilter.
They are suppossed to be "state of the art" and cleanable.
The one by Trufilter even has built in magnet.
You can even buy remote mounts that have built in coolers or hold twin filters.

Might want to check on them changing the formula like Eric said.

Back when that was posted I went out and cleaned all the old stuff I could find off the shelves around here

Just started using Royal Purple XPR 5w20 Have not been on the dyno with it yet, but i've 'heard' it may produce slight HP gains in the Hemi, well see. The car seems to be running better however, at least from my laymans ass and ears, that is :flowers:

I think the original question is too vague.

What is the best oilt for what? For engine longevity? For long intevals between oil changes? For highest HP?

That old Turbo-Diesal Truck oil thread was one of mine. If that formula was still available, I'd stand by my original recommendation if the issue was "for engine longevity."

But if you want HP, there's tons of better choices. There may even be better choices for longevity, but you can't buy them at the local store.

My eyes really got opened once I got more heavily into hard care racing.

You want the most HP? Run 0W5 (zero W five - not a typo) weight oil.......and only put 5 quarts in total. Oh - and buy a Wix filter - a racing filter.

But I wouldn't do that on the street for very long.

Beyond that, change your oil every 5,000 miles, using any given synthetic, and you'll probably never know the difference.

But there's lots of oils in the racing world that are "not street legal" that will help your engine last longer.
