It's time to get ready for the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour! The tour runs from June 6th to June 13th. I wanted to hit a couple stops last year but it didn't pan out. Hemipwr (Jim) made a few stops last year and loved every minute of it. This year we are going to do the WHOLE tour from start to finish along with a few other friends with non LX's. I am giving up a Caribbean cruise to take part in this simply because I can't afford both in the same year. I am looking for others interested in doing part or all of the tour. So if you can't make the long haul check us out if we're in your area. For the most part I'll leave the lodging and what not up to the individuals. As Jim and I finalize our plans for lodging I will post that so others can make arrangements from those if they would like. I'll try and keep a running list in this post of those interested and the cities they intend to visit. I have color coded the cities to try and make it easier to discern who will attend what venue and a "?" beside the cities that are a maybe for each person. Hope to see ya there! 2009 HOT ROD POWER TOUR ROUTE Saturday, June 6 Madison, WI Alliant Energy Center Sunday, June 7 Racine, WI Downtown Lakefront Monday, June 8 South Bend, IN St. Joseph County Fairgrounds Tuesday, June 9 Warren, MI (Detroit) General Motors Technical Center Wednesday, June 10 Dayton, OH University of Dayton Arena Thursday, June 11 Somerset, KY The Center for Rural Development Friday, June 12 Bristol, TN Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday, June 13 Bristol, TN Bristol Motor Speedway (Long Hauler Awards) http://www.hotrod.com/2009powertour/index.html Attendees List Hemipwr-Long Haul 4deater-Long Haul radpacv-Long Haul G-MAC-Long Haul xrayi-South Bend, IN?-Warren, MI (Detroit)-Dayton, OH fizzo112-Warren, MI (Detroit) Toxie-Warren, MI (Detroit)?-Dayton, OH? novawagonmaster-Dayton, OH zoomzoom1-Dayton, OH?-Somerset, KY?-Bristol, TN? infernogirl-Dayton, OH-Somerset, KY-Bristol, TN RedHot R/T-Dayton, OH-Somerset, KY-Bristol, TN BAD HEMI-Somerset, KY-Bristol, TN ****UPDATE FOR THE WARREN, MI TO DAYTON, OH LEG OF THE TOUR**** Hemipwr and I live in the Lima, OH area so we will be coming back home the night of the Warren, MI stop (Tues June 9th). Cold & wet today in madison WI. Hope tomorrow turns out better. A lot of nice rides to help keep your mind off the weather though!:hypno:
Yes, we are doing the Long Haul!!! Today was much better than yesterday. It was wet at the start but when we got to Racine it was clearing up but the wind blowing in off of Lake Michigan was pretty nippy. Later in the day the wind changed some and it was blowing more out than in. We got to park up town away from the lake and the wind so we had it pretty good. The poor souls that had to park right on the lake with the vendors had to be chilly for the first part of the day. At any rate it was better than being wet & cold. On a side note we Ran into Pete & family from Pedders Suspension the last two days. Great to see you guys again! The trip to Racine was a blast. People were lined up in the small towns just like a parade. They had their families out there and they were waving and yelling as we all rolled thru. We were not far behind the Hot Rod Tour Bus so everyone was all pumped up when we came into town. So many cars here, it's crazy! I've never seen this many cars in one place before. Way to many cars at these stops to even see in one day. If you can hit just one of these stops.....DO IT!! You won't be sorry. Well I gotta get some sleep. I'm going to try and load some pics tomorrow night. If anyone needs a phone # to hook up with us shoot me a PM.
Well I didn't keep up on here but I did on another site so I'll throw up some pics and a link to the updated stuff. It was a very cool trip and we got to take 5 laps around Bristol Motor Speedway for $25!!!! I would love to go next year but I'll have to see the tour route and plan from there. Most likely it will be south next year as they should be starting at Bristol. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101548
