Based on information I found on this website, I went ahead and ordered Bendex brake pads for my CSRT8. The front installation went smoothly. The new pads had the metal shields already installed on them. The rear pads were much more difficult. I had a hard time getting the pistons to retract. I finally did, but the new pads didn't come with metal shields. I tried to install the pads with the old shields, but the fit was too tight and I couldn't get them on. So, I just installed the rear pads as they came from Bendex (no shields). I broke in the pads and everything seemed fine. I drove the car around on Saturday and by that night the rear brakes started squeeking. This turned into a VERY loud squeek that happens as the car comes to a stop. It sounds like the brakes on a big rig truck. VERY LOUD. I should also point out that it was raining last night. Wouldn't think that would make a difference. Today I tried to install the shields, but there is no way the pads and shields will fit. My questions are: Do I need the rear shields since they didn't come on the Bendex pads? What would cause the brakes to squeek like that? Could it be that they are not set in yet and the moisture had an affect? Any help would be appreciated. :thanks:
Go get some anti squeak lube and apply a little bit more. Weird that the Bendex don't come with a shield for the rears? My Satisfied's did.
Thanks. So, do I need the shields? If so, I don't know how I would fit them on there. The fit is so tight, the anti-squeak lube will probably just wipe off as I install the pads. However, I will give it a try.
try doing the bedding procedure again...... i know my posi-quiets started squealing after a few days. i went a bedded them again, but this time after doing the 60 - 0 stop, i did not touch the brakes again for quite a few minutes. i did this on a very remote road so i would not have to touch the brakes again after the bedding procedure, i just coasted in drive for a looooooong time to cool them down!!! lol
At 60 MPH get on the brakes hard but not lock up....when you hit 10 MPH speed up to 60 then brake hard to 10....repeat this 7 times........do it on a road where you can drive for 10 minutes without touching the brakes after the 7 stops..VERY IMPORTANT that you do not apply the brakes for 10 minutes..

I had the exact same thing happen. I bought new rotors and the squealing went away entirely. I'll save my old rotors, turn them, and swap back and forth next brake pad change until I need to buy new rotors again in the distant future. Get yours turned or buy new rotors.
Well, I finally gave in and decided to get the rotors turned. I didn't want too, but that awful squealing would not go away no matter how many times I tried to bed in the brakes. I was really surprised at this since I've never had my rotors turned unless there was obvious scoring or warping. But these SRT8 brakes just squealed non stop. I haven't put the rotors back on yet, but when I do, I sure hope the squealing goes away. By the way, just to make sure I don't mix up the rotors (I forgot to look when I removed them), what direction are the slots (on the rotors) suppose to be facing. Also, several people mentioned using the "anti-brake squeal" lube. Where does it go? Between the metal pad back and the pistons?
I've never thought much of anti-squeal lube. My experience has been that, at best, it only works temporarily and some of it will glaze your pads. I don't know, maybe it's gotten better in recent years?
