Since the 09 challenger srt comes with a manual. Is there a conversion kit for the charger. Superbee Frank
Good question... I think there will need to be several changes made in the older cars to accommodate the 6 speed?
good question .. funny you asked that because a friend mentioned to me that the CTS-V is sweet cuz it has the option of a Manual trans .. that being said .. considering the 09 chally has the option of the 6 speed, can we see this as an option on maybe the 10 300's and Chargers????
What would need to happen with the puter in order to not make car freak out? Is it just as simple as taking one out of the challenger and sticking it in the charger? I would also think you'd have to modify the inside since you have the foot rest there.....you would probably have to do something about it in order to fit a clutch pedal i'd say. you'd probably need everything from the Motor back too right? Different rears in the cars.
remember the stick Chally has an LSD rear unlike the autos that are stuck with a silly electronic one.............Some of you that have been around the LX forums for over 2 yrs may remember that transmission guy from Knoxville TN...his company custom fitted trans to vehicles. He actually built a 6sp 2006 SRT8 Charger.....if I remember correctly the tall rear gears caused the clutch to wear out prematurely. He never could fit another rear in so he ditched the project.
Not just that, but they could not get the PCM and TCM to mesh correctly. Kaiser Transmission? They left their card on my windshield from the 06 SEMA show. I politely passed as I LOVE my Automatic. haha
Thats the one Ron..........He brought that car up to where I live back in 2006 and was going to let me drive it but had some emergency come up and had to leave town..:erm:
Couple of things. NO you can not just put the 09 computer and trans into an 06 or 07, the computer networks (CAN) are two different speeds. That doesn't mean the electronics for a manual aren't done though. Dave at B&G said that he can make a manual work. Keisler - yes they did make a prototype, yes they did burn up clutches thanks to our 3.06 rears, no they haven't tried it with the Richmond gears that are available. I bet it would work with the 3.92 09 Challenger rear.
haha Keisler, thanks Adam. Guess I was thinking of Kaiser Hospitals.. lol And yes, you are absolutely correct...
can the 09 chally 3.92 gears replace our stock 3.06's?? that will help this fat ass get off the line right??? do the chally's have better 60' times over say an 06 Charger SRT??
