First off I wanna say that I'm a METAL HEAD born and raised with it, old Metallica, Overkill, SLAYER, King Diamond you get the picture. As I have gotten older I now listen to everything but you will always catch me listening to hair nation on Sirius. So a buddy of mine gets $200+ seats for free and invites me, now not liking there newer stuff as much as the older stuff I was complacent on goin but I figured what the fuck if they play even 1 old song it may be worth it. So we get there and of course I bring my camera and on the way in there scanning with wands and of course guess what? No camera aloud WTF??!? So my buddy is already in the gated area and I'm like FUCK I have to walk all the way back to the car to drop the camera off, so he is talking to me inside the gated area which is a waist high gate, I say give me your keys he looks at me and goes give me the camera, I'm like what? He says give it to me, since he has already been checked and inside the gate they wont check him again,s o I give him the camera he puts it in his jacket and I walk around 2 cars and walk back and wallah I'm in! We find our seats and were right on the floor buy the hockey board right next to general admission which is floor seat, YES!!!! Long story short show starts I turn the camera on, dead battery, I left it on the night before, FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Backstop a few minutes before that this is where it starts getting good. Standing there looking around I hear the crown cheering, I look in the gen. admission area 10 rows from me and there is guys squaring off UFC style brawling I'm talking bloody brawling baby, holy shit my adrenaline was flowing at this point, I WANT IN!!! Security separates everyone and the lights go down and the show starts. They start off with ONE by this point my adrenaline is so high I can feel my blood pumping thru my veins. I look down at gen. admission and what do you know 10 rows from me a MOSH PIT!!! OH HELLS YES!!!!!! There playing Master of Puppets, Damage inc a few new songs you get the picture, I cant take my eyes off this mosh pit, now by this point I cant take it anymore I need to hit the PIT!!!! I'm looking down and there is a bunch of LID in the pit (Long Island Dicks) a few big guys throwing weight around and I want in to cause some damage! I go to the security guard and ask him, BEG him give me 20 minutes and ill come right back to my seat just let me GET IN THE MOSH PIT, I can only describe it like the movie 300 when the Persian Elite Warriors have that huge monster and all the fighting is going on around him and he looks at the guys holding the chains and is BEGGING for them to cut the chains and let him get into the BRAWL, I was BEGGING this guy just give me 20 minutes let me bruise some of these guys up and ill come right back, take my wallet, take my camera TAKE MY FIRST BORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy shit I was like a madman, he was just a dick and would not let me into the gen. admission area. So I go back to my seat and just pound my fists, head as hard as I can to every song until I was soaked in sweat, my veins were popping out everywhere it was fucking great. One, Damage inc, Master of puppets, The day that never comes, Kill em ALL, They did a 4 song encore and ended with SEEK AND DESTROY by this point I couldn't hear anything and had no voice due to singing every song at the top of my lungs. I must say that yelling like that all nite and not being mad at anyone and yelling like that I woke up this morning with a weight lifted off my shoulders, I have not felt this good in a while. I have NEVER released so much tension in one night, would of been more if they let me into the pit. My review, HOLY SHIT they rocked the roof off Nassau Coliseum, they sound as good as they did 25 years ago when I first seen them. If you have a chance don't miss it they FUCKING ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great review Tony. haha I actually grew up listening to Metallica when they were playing barn party's in Pleasanton and Livermore, CA. Also the underground clubs in San Jose, CA. They "Used" to open for Queen's Ryche. haha
Great review buddy! I missed them when they were here in the Bay Area in Dec but know friends that went and said it was killer. Funny AC/DC was here in Dec too and kicked butt also (was a good month for rock around here, haha!). Small world ... James Hetfield lives right by my friends somewhere up near Terra Linda in the North Bay. My buddies wife says she sees him all the time out shopping and stuff. How cool is that!
GO if you can, their show was supposed to be awesome! I missed both, bad timing for me ... right before x-mas (I got two kids) and the economy in the tank (no money) so I was SOL, sucked. Tix weren't cheap for either. Next time.
I may start hitting concerts again harcore, it a HUGE aggression release for me, the gym used to do it but now its just work in the gym all buisness.
I dont think i could like a album anymore than kill em' all but, The new one is allright.Some pretty good riffs in there. And who would have thought anyone from suicidal tendecies would be in metallica years ago? Thats another band i was big into years ago,infectious grooves was pretty good! "punk it up"! Glad to hear they did a good show. I hear alot lately how good it is that they re-evaluated themselves and went back to the style that made them! In my opinion St anger was the demise of them but they came back with the new album. I to have a love for speed metal/hardcore and old punk(bad religion,nofx ect) I f it has fast riff's and fast drum beats i am all in! Hoping to go to LAMB OF GOD! I will give you a review if i make it back from the pit! lol
I`v seen em several times and they always threw down! My favorite was the and justice for all tour where the statue crumbled during the song.
Erik it was INSANE, great show. Love you too snookems. That was the last time I seen them prior to this one and before that it was the Master of puppets tour. All in all I have seen the 8 times. Now if Overkill does a tour and throws all there new shit in the toilet and just plays there old stuff ill be in heaven. FIRE FIRE feel the fire she burns at the steak like a witch!!!! Damn I used to love Overkill.
