I also ran the Charger SRT8 (Diablo tune, stat, CAI) at the track today, first time to do a burnout, the tach bounced the Rev limiter, and the check engine light came on, car lost all power. Pushed it out of the lane, turned it off, re cranked and power was back, light still on...after a few cycles of turning it off and on, the light went way, and did a couple or more runs, spun, but didn't hit rev limiter. After that, another run, and spun too much, hit limiter again, and same thing with the CEL coming on, lost power, etc.. WTF? Anybody have this happen and whats the fix? I have an older tune in it from Diablo, set the limiter as high as it allowed. Input anyone?
Sounds like you are going into limp mode....you are actually hitting the trans limiter due to engine reving too fast.........set your rev limiter about 200 RPM less.....
sounds as if you are going into limp mode. this is what the car is programmed to do if it hits the rev limiter for too long, or senses something out of whack. the cel light takes a couple of cycles to reset itself. all of these things you mention are not unusual. if you are just running a canned tune from your pred, i would suggest downloading the latest version from the diablosport website and setting the rev limiter a tad more above your shift points than it currently is!!!
You are going into limp mode. Last time at the track I hit it 7 out of 8 times because I couldn't shift to 2nd fast enough while doing a burnout. If you hit the rev limiter you should just bounce off it and not go into limp mode. I lowered my rev limiter to 6500 (I shift at 6400) and the problem almost went away. At the track today I bounced off it a bunch and only once when I rolled out of a burnout did it over-rev and go into limp mode.
Thanks, I've been on the fence about changing the tune in the Charger since it runs so well like this, but if the more current one is as good or better and will help out my situation, I'm all for it.Do I need to re-install stock tune then upload new version the the diablo, or just plug the diablo in the computer, upload, then take it to the car...?
i run the latest version of the 93 cai canned tune. i have other "custom" tunes that do not work as well as what comes with the pred!!!
