Well this little project has taken up just about every evening of mine for quiet some time now and we still have ALOT to do. With only 2 of us it's going to take some time but we still have not borrowed any money for renovations or remodeling. This is how it started out

Its a very small bar that sits under a boutique store that is open during the day, so basically were in the hallway that runs from the front entrance to the back entrance SPICE is the boutique shop this is the front of the entire center

Entrance from the back (hey you can see the Jeep-LOL)[IMG]

    Inside BEFORE it was gutted

We TOTALLY gutted the bar, poured a concrete footer to keep the bar off the floor to prevent it from getting wet when cleaning and went to work on the bar itself

Now what will be the talk of the town is the bar top itself (well and how sexy I am behind it[IMG])

Here is a quick vid of how it will look when completely done

The bar top itself will be done tomorrow with the installation of granite on a section of the front and back side of the bar. We still have to stain and seal the bar and install the footrest and a few more details. In all we have 180 dual red LED lights under the bar, PLUS 10 halogen bulb lights for back bar lighting.

We also cut holes and cut and spliced indiviual red LED lights to accent the front fascia of the bar and foot rest area

That's really nice! Good luck, bars are a tough business.

I hope that's some durable cover on there that can withstand a pen point, broken glass or a pocket knife.

Oh yeah we definately thought all of it through it has a pretty durable top. We even took it a step further so now it sits on 3" plexi supported by the bar and 1/4" Lag Bolts to keep it from flexing in the center. The top is not clear otherwise you would see tons of scratches but with the light on underneath it comes thru clear

Here are some pics of what is looks like under the bar top that brings it all too life I cannot believe how much tedious work that was involved in this but its done. The granite got delayed until Friday due to the stainless backer not being done so we will go ahead and stain the front of the bar and paint the back side black for the time being.

    Our mini power station
    [IMG]

The many layers to the top as you can see we added Lag bolts at the last minute to the center to keep it from flexing if someone decides to stand or lean heavy on the center of the bar or push down to hard while playing with the liquid

This goes on top of the lower thick pieced before the liquid bags we are going to incorporate this over to the bathroom door and cut a section out of the door so when the light hits it from inside the bathroom it will look pretty sick

Here is the actual look of the top it is not clear on purporse this way it will not show every scratch that a clear top would, when the lights come on it's crystal clear

Our next project is the front entry section

    20' high pine ceilings

Behind the bar this area will be painted black with a mildew resistant paint

Well passed all the City Inspections and need to finish getting everything in place for the Texas Alch Bev Comission comes out to do their insepction, things are moving along pretty good got all the walls painted last week except the bathrooms and decided to build an overhang over the middle section of the bar which was really not that bad we knocked it out in a few days (still just 2 of us). Its finished and needs to be sanded and stained. Next we will be removing all the lights you see in the pics and replacing some with new wall sconces and track lighting and some additional LED lighting. We priced out LED liquor displays and the chepeast 3 step display was $600 FORGET THAT so we built our own for under $100 in material LOL. Here are a few cell phone pics from last night shooting for July 6th to open depending on staff and liquor Lisc.
The red paint on the wall to the left of the bar is being covered by rock they start today, the carbonated lines and tanks are being installed today, got both 37" TV's in yesterday and made our wall mounts for the rock guy to frame around so the TVs will be recessed into the wall, computer system has been there just no time to play with it yet.

Hey I gotta brag on myself and Dale, neither of us have any background in carpentry, plumbing, electrical etc.. but I am so glad we tackled this ourselves not only was it a learning experience and we know the quality of everything we have saved TONS of money. Funny thing the bar owner next door can hear us pounding away and ran into us last night as we were out to eat and he is so excited about us opening as this will be his hangout, most of the bar owners in town rarely hang out at their own place but he is not the only bar owner to tell us this so we must be doing something right??? IDK its gonna be killer when it opens for sure

We just spent alot of time checking out all the other bars in the downtown area and they all lack PERSONALITY AND INDIVIDUALITY they were all basically thrown together with hardly any thought process put into them, it was the quicker to open the quicker to make a buck and you know most of them are struggeling. It's little stuff like while you are sitting at these other bars you look behind the bar and you can see their little fridges with mixes, cans, whatever and you think WHY all that should be out of sight and look classy, neat, clean and give the patron a place to unwind with character.

bars, casinos and strip clubs all brave a bad economy well. good luck to ya wade, im sure youll do well. if you have any pull in town, or good looking girl cousins or friends, i would pay them to work there. hot women pull in more clientele than any kind of fancy counter top.

Thanks our long sticks measure well huh-LOL

Steve you are so right and we already have a few in mind just waiting closer to opening time to do the actual hiring. Since Markus is gone and will not be able to serve drinks in his man thong we were worried but I think it will work out.
