UPS guy showd up at 1pm, had 'em on the car by 2pm. (Brand new Discount-tire up the street was empty!) 275/40's on all corners on stock 20x9 Aluminum SRT wheels powdercoated black. No clearance issues.
NYC - I got the tires for $745 shipped. Alabama - I'll post a pic of the rim with the old rubber attached tonight but will get you a pic of the new rubber tomorrow. stock rim with goodyear: stock rear with 255's: rear with Vreds (275/40's):
I've only had them up to 70 but have noticed I can hear my exhaust [better?] which is leading me to believe they may be a little quieter than the Eagles. I had previously had my stock fronts balanced to the point where my steering wheel wobble was all but gone. I did notice some wobble this morning (on 528 in front of Intel doing 70, lol), so I'm going to take them back to have the balance rechecked. I'll probably be at coffee Saturday morning, supposed to go to Intel's winter party tonight at Sandia Casino, they hired Eddie Money to play this year, and I have a room booked. However, Amy still has that wicked respiratory cold that's been going around so our attendence there may be in question. So in a nutshell, if I don't consume a 5th of Goose tonight, I'll be at coffee, lol. I would so love to do the giant rears!:hypno: I wanted to send my rears off to Weldcraft but I just couldn't wait any longer b/c my wear bars were showing at about 9.5k miles (was at 11.3k yesterday when I finally replaced them, me = procrastinator, lol). What's kinda weird about these tires is that they're non-directional but assymetrical, the thick water channel always gets placed to the inside of the rim, which makes the swoosh marks travel in opposite directions from side-to-side (L to R). I do plan on taking these to the track at my 1st opportunity, March 14th. Another thing I do like for the moment (until I get some fat rear rims) is the ability to rotate!
Give them another try and if they don't get it right find somewhere to get it road force balanced. Let us know about this. I've gotten the impression that they can be slick in the cold. Like below 50 or so.
Hey leg maker I tried 315/40/20 on the rear with KMC Nova Wheels they fit fine didn't rub inner wheel well or stick out beyond 1/4 panel only problem was turning into drive way or heavy G turning Corner of tire caught fender lip and cut a grove into tire, needles to say I have a set of wheels and tires that I cant use. Keep in mind that I have a Pedders Track suspension, so the car is lowered quite a bite.
I'm fairly certain "most" are only concerned with the drag strip. Seeing your avatar, I'm sure you'd appreciate the complete package the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's offer to the true driving enthusiast. :friends: With that said...I'll tell you that they are the best tire to date for our cars, for those willing and capable, of pushing our performance machines to the designers wishes! If they cared about the drag strip, they probably would have built some sturdy half shafts!
X2 Bud Made the car a different animal on the real track. I found that 41 psi is the sweet spot for the tires.
Yep I'm more into the road course driving style. I do own a NSRT4 but at the moment I am looking at other replacements, plus it's always good to learn more about other cars. How do you like your Invo's by the way?
Not a whole lot. I think the curb weight of the SRT8 is a bit much for the Invos to handle. The V's have sturdier side walls. Not too mention I should have went 275 all the way around. The staggered setup understeers too much for me...even with really tinkering with pressures.
Now that's really good infomation. We had that huge discussion about that a long time ago and now we know. Thanks Rick.
Yea but I thought I also remember you saying you thought the 275s might be a bit too big for the front and hurt turn-in some? Or have you changed your mind on this??
