We installed the first ZEX nitrous system for the Challengers on our R/T a while back and finally made it to the dyno to test it tonight. We did a non-nitrous pull and 2 nitrous pulls for consistency. Non-nitrous (Techco CAI, MBRP Catback, 85mm TB, Predator) RWTQ: 395 RWHP: 365 ZEX Nitrous (125 shot) RWTQ: 540 RWHP: 453 So, the 125 shot of ZEX yielded 145 RWTQ and 88 RWHP!! This set-up is so amazing, and I will be running at the track tomorrow night to see what kind of times it will yield. While I have some drag radials at the shop, I am going to stick with the stock tires in order to give you guys a good idea of the 1/4 ET gains to expect from the kit. I've been running on stock tires this entire time of testing and will keep that consistent for this test. The kit comes with jets for a 75, 100, 125, 150 and 175 shot, so you can choose the power level you want to use. Since the previous LX systems came with a 125 shot, that is what we set up to test on the dyno today and what I'll be running at the track. After this test we'll try out the 150 and 175 jets on the dyno and track as well. Special thanks to ZEX for the awesome system, and for always making a top notch product with crazy power!! Here is the thread of pics from the install: http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12212
That RWTQ is amazing and the most important to get our anchors rolling. Will be waiting on the track results. I am thinking, with good air, 11.8's with traps around 120ish? Goof luck.
I think with D/Rs she might see that, but she is still runing her factory tires.Even though she got some killer times before that was with alot less hp/tq I think she wont see the full benifits of the N20 until the D/Rs go on.I can tell you I didnt.. These new 5.7s impress me more and more, pretty cool how BMC is doing a little at a time to see the true benifits of each Mod..I will say this,if i do get a new chally it will be a 5.7..
Thanks, Scott. I agree on needing the DRs to see the best performance from the nitrous, and I certainly will throw those on at some point. I need the axle-mod too, ha ha. I do love this new 5.7 and it continues to impress me, especially that torque! One of the things that is important to me is to only change 1 thing each time I run the car. I will run with DRs at some point, but for now I'm going with 1 change at a time, and that is the ZEX this time. More than 1 variable can mislead the gains or make it hard to see what mods do what for track times, etc. so I am sure I'll have some major traction issues but at least I'll know what the ZEX will do for the car good/bad and can be the guinea pig for everyone else out there. I am dying to play with the sticky tires, though! Are you coming to the track tonight? It's supposed to be cold tonight through Friday, so I'm planning to get there Friday too!
Yes I will be there friday.Try playing with the arming switch for traction. In other words do not turn it on untill your rolling..BTW Where is the bottle heater? You will need it. and why do you need axles??
It's been rainy here all afternoon so it's looking like the testing will have to wait until Friday. Cool on Friday. I was thinking about trying that, with flipping it when I'm ready to have it kick in. I want to test the WOT set-up since that is how it was designed to work, but I want to get the best time it can put out, too. Axles ... 540 RWTQ on DRs ... plus the first 5.7 Techco supercharger is coming here.
What I mean is.I thought the 5.7 axles are pretty stout. Are the Chally ones different then a Charger??
The auto Chally R/T has the 3.06 gears and what seems to be the same axles and rear as the SRT Charger.
Once you get your new axles, beat the hell out of the stockers and see how well they hold, especially w/ D/Rs.Im wondering if they changed the way they made them. I doubt it,but it would be nice..
I went out to the track last night, but only got 2 runs in by around 10:30p and said the heck with it. The place was packed and I ran those 2 runs without the ZEX just to get the feel for the track as my street tires are very unpredictable. Even without launching at WOT (and no ZEX), I spun all over the place and couldn't get any kind of traction, so the drag radials are going to have to go on before I'll risk hitting 540 rwtq on those 235mm all season radials. So, I'm planning to hit the track Wednesday with the DRs and the full bottle of ZEX to try again! I'll keep you all posted.
