I saw on the news that chrysler may drop the dodge line and go with the names it started with Chrysler and Plymouth. If they keep the charger and challenger they could call them ( CHARGER ) the PLYMOUTH SRT ROAD RUNNER and (CHALLENGER ) THE PLYMOUTH SRT CUDA.
That makes no sense whatsoever...Chrysler killed Plymouth back in '02(???) why would they kill Dodge, and resurrect the Plymouth name? I think it would be more likely that if Dodge were to get dropped(the exception of the Ram). I'd figure Dodge becomes truck only, then all the Dodge cars get killed, leaving behind only their Chrysler cousins.
There reason was that DODGE belonged to the DODGE brothers and wasnt part of the origanal CHRYSLER car line until they merged. As for the truck line it wasnt even mentioned but all they have to do is rename it as the chrysler ram. That all that was said.
No wonder these dildoes are in such financial trouble. This could be the dumbest idea since those two guys designing a currency for dogs and cats to use.
If they drop down to just one brand name it will not be long until they are gone. This has happen twice before with American Motors and Studabacker...oh yes and also Packard. People want choices and no one is going to look at a Chrysler as a money saving car. Dodge has made it though many hard times in the past I hold they dont drop it....but then again they are own by a high yield company who got them for a song....
Again, I just don't see them dropping Dodge, AND reviving Plymouth...They allready killed Plymouth. What sense would it make to kill Dodge, then bring back a name plate that they already killed. Not that it has to make sense to me...but I say if they kill Dodge, they will leave everything Chrysler, not Chrysler and Plymouth.
I agree, it makes no sense. If they wanted to just kill Dodge then fine but not kill it to bring back Plymouth, that's just stupid. How many people out there are dying to buy a Plymouth?!?! Maybe GM should go ahead and kill Pontiac and bring back Olds, hahahhaha! All I know is Dodge (and Pontiac for GM) is kinda like the "everyman's" performance car, fun cars for a good price. Cerberus, for the love of GOD don't kill it!!!!!!!
If you look back in history there were more PLYMOUTHS than DODGES in drag racing and nascar. Look at nhra STOCK and SUPER STOCK were there are a lot more PLYMOUTHS than DODGES. 1 - DUSTERS OVER DARTS 2 - ROAD RUNNERS OVER SUPER BEES 3 - CUDAS OVER CHALLENGERS 4 - CHARGERS OVER GTX ( THIS IS BECAUSE PEOPLE OPPT TO BUY THE RR OVER THE GTX BECAUSE OF PRICE ) 5 - The main reason that there thinking about dropping the DODGE is it wasnt in there starting line up of cars as they bought the DODGE from the DODGE BROTHERS. 6 - I also agree that dropping the DODGE would be a BIG mistake.
I'm not saying I dislike Plymouth or like Dodge more than Plymouth, I'm saying why in the world kill Dodge to BRING BACK Plymouth, it makes no sense?!?! American car companies need to downsize, no doubt about it, way too much redundancy, but why kill off a name that's got a great following right now for one that has none?!?! Badge engineering at it's worse, worse than Ford renaming the 500 as the Taurus just to try to get more sales. If they drop Dodge they drop Dodge, but if they do it in order to bring back Plymouth that's just friggin stupid and I'm out.
