i have a 2008 srt8 some mods magnaflow cat back 180 thur.air aid cai preditor tunner runnning 13.4 and looking to go faster.
waaaay diff mods. one is relatively cheap one is expensive. SC is obviously the better choice though cost vs power gain is def an issue.
Depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is. Both will give you a nice boost of power. The big difference other than cost is the fact that the S/C power is always there, and the Nitrous is only there when you have your bottle full. There are lots of guys here that are running one or the other and can give you first hand experience. Personally I am A S/C fan, and we are installing a Vortech on my car right now. If we can help you let us know, we can get you set up with either system.
For the most bang for the buck go with spray. In order to get the same gain with boost and have it reliable I would recommend a forged bottom end.
I've seen videos where a SRT with a 125 shot($1000.00 mod) beat a SRT with a S/C(est, $7000.00 mod) so its all on how deep your pockets are and whats your personal preference.
One benefit of nitrous is you maintain everyday stock drivability, yet can run with the best of them when you want to. Of course the drawback is, unless you're on the bottle, you're only as fast as every other stock SRT-8 out there. Supercharger choices and tuning for our cars are improving weekly. Some great choices available now.
Im getting one installed soon, but i dont drag at all. I do highway runs once in a blue and wanted it to get those M5's and AMG's. If someome can chime in, how well does a 125 shot work in a run from 60mph to 160mph presuming that i spray from 3000 rpm and not through the gears? Will it be enough to pull on the M and AMG?
heh......you can spray a 125 shot through the gears with no issues.......and that will pretty much give you a low 12 sec ride off a stock SRT
sorry a jeep with a 125 shot will not hang with a new m5 maybe with the older amgs but not the new 6.3's now from a dead stop its a diff story
I have an ATI pushing 12 1/2 pounds into my '01 Cobra. I frickin love it. With my SRT, I want to try something new, just because I'm a wheelopath. I, too, am really on the fence: Roots type puffer, or NO2. Puffers are costly, engine compartment space consuming, and not overly efficient. NO2 is high maintenance, almost too "ricer", and finicky. However, S'Cs are power-on-demand, sound bitchin, and low maintenance. NOs is cheap, LOTS of power, and it looks cool purging out of your hood! Damn. :wallbash:
Why not do both? find a used paxton kit for like 2500 and buy a nitrous kit too. Thats wshat I am doing. And a 125 shot plus maybe long tubes and a good cmr tune shoudl let you beat a m5 from a stop. from a freeway roll those fugger are fast
