FYI on the C6 Vette. Confirmed with the shop that did the work on the car it is an 2008 six speed automatic LS3 Vette with a Vararam and a mild EFI live tune.
Yep...I was there....great run bro...one badazz station wagon you have there....looks awesome too..:dancinlock:
Nice...the video started a couple sec to late though. That looked like it started with a wicked burn-out.
Yeah. The back end of the car looked like it was on fire after doing my burnout. I think that's what got a little attention. The primer was the first pass that I made prior to this one which was the 12.541 @ 112.43 mph.
That race that day I was better. Will it happen all of the time - NO!! At the end of the end all if shows is that our cars can be made pretty qucik and can run with some pretty awesome competition if done right.
What mods do you have? I was going back and forth with the Vette guys on one of there forums, which is loaded with a bunch of assholes who think SRT8's are slow and could never beat a C6 unless heavily modded. Stock for stock the LS3 will spank us in every gear from a dig or a roll, but i know guys who have roll raced 05-07 C6's and many claimed wins saying in the upper speeds the Vette couldnt pull past them. I really have a passion for all cars and i give credit where it due, but between the Cobra and the Vette guys, i dont know where the biggest group of assholes are. I get more respect for my car from the M5-M3 and AMG guys. Please share your experience with the C6 for those who have had run in's with one.
PPP Road Warrior cam, BWoody ported and thermal coated intake, hand ported T/B, PPP U/D pulley, Volant CAI, Jet 180 t-stat, JBA/Borla catback, Kooks l/t headers w/hf cats and a CMR tune by Injected Engineering. I will not say that my car is a Vette killer now or any time; I just happened to win on this day in this race against that particular LS3. The LS3 is much more stout than the LS2 as you know and quite honestly a guy in a stock 05-07 LS2 would be in for a bad day against my car. I do not consider my car heavily modified (some may or may not agree) and the cam that I have is pretty small (necessary for stock heads because of PTV at the time) considering some of the other alternatives out there now. Also, the way that I have my car setup with the ported intake and throttle body, it pulls pretty damn good in the mid to upper rpm range. And yes I have taken a C6 from a roll on the highway before and in one of my other videos, I took a Kenne Bell 99-04 Saleen Mustang GT at the track the same day that I raced the Vette. Pretty sure he was over 400 hp at the wheels so a stock Cobra (not many of those out there if any) would be a good race for me too although they may disagree which is what I would expect. In regards to the race at MCE that Saturday against the LS3 Vette, when we crossed the finish line I was .3798 seconds ahead which is a little more than a car length which I pretty much held the entire race. I cannot assume how I would do in a roll race against an LS3 so I will not even broach that subject. JMatt summed up his thoughts now owning an LS3 against a stock SRT8 in this thread so he may be a better judge of a modded SRT8 against an LS3. http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9911&highlight=vette The particular 08 Vette that I raced, as previously stated had a Vararam, mild tune and was an A6.
The only fair comparison is stock vs. stock. How they came from the factory. Sure you can mod the SRT-8, but then someone can mod the Vette, or the Mustang, or whatever. I re-read my post that was linked above, and I stand by that post after driving the vette for 6,000 miles already. But - I also maintain that it's ridiculous to compare an SRT-8 to a Corvette at all. And the fact it's as close as it is should be an embarassment to GM. Nice run. I think on a cool day if I let my engine cool off, I'd still beat that time with a 100% stock LS3 C6.
