Just had a new engine and protorque convertor installed. If you shift into gear right after you crank it and it's cold, it will go into gear. If it gets warm it may or may not. It's kind of hit and miss right now, but more often than not, it won't go into gear from park if it's warm. If you are already in gear it stays. Any ideas? No codes shown.

Yes sir. Maybe have the dealer at least check it for you. Shouldn't be a charge for that?

Just checking... You're talking about the trans engaging and not about moving the shifter right?

ya, shifter moves fine and the dash shows its in the appropriate gear, but it never engages to move the jeep.

So if it was actually low on fluid it would be slipping right? Because once I get going, its fine until I take it out of gear.

Now it is starting to sound like what some of us LXers have had an issue with...

Did your tuner by chance up the rev limiter and shift points?

If so, you may need to lower them a bit.

    Example:

Mine were set at 7000rpm for Rev limit and the shift points were 500 - 750rpm's above OEM.

This was causing my tranning to BANG into any gear, but would throw the tranny into an invisible limp mode. Only way to fix was to coast to the side of the road, shut the ignition off for a few seconds, and doink, back to normal.

update- Went out to crank it this morning and idle was real rough and it kept dying. I could only keep it running if I help rpms around 1.5-2k. I reloaded tune and everything was fine. I let it sit and get warm, still everything fine. I had no problems getting it in gear at all and the idle was where it should be.

I wonder if the jeep's bus had started some adaptive stuff and required a fresh upload to clear the adaptive changes out?

Almost sounds like the tune before was curupt and was corrected when you reloaded the tune?

Hopefully this is the end of your issue.

I think it's the trans. Big time whine and slipping. Stuck on the road waiting on tow truck :(

Did you check for codes again? (By the way, I believe the Predator only shows active codes and does not display the history -- of course you're most interested in active codes).

Ya, no codes thrown. On a positive note I found a great tow company that only has rollbacks!

update - Installer pulled the trans pan and the filter was caked with metal bits! Jeep has 6500 grandpaw miles on it. Will be interesting to see what gave way.

Your original convertor I bet. Mine blew at approx 8000kms and had a new trans fitted.

They apparently have issues with some models.

Original one was fine when removed. This one is (or was) a pro-torque.
