I know...haven't been here much. Realized today my last visit was on 6/12/08...sorry. Just been really busy!!! Anyway, this Summer I pulled the stock wheels off my CSRT8, powdercoated them and put on some new Toyo Proxes 4 tires. I went with a Cardinal Industrial Finishes "Silver Vein" on the front, black on the rear and a 2 mil clear over the entire wheel. So, without further adieu, pics for you pic ho's...LOL: All cleaned up, then loaded in my old Blazer for a trip to the tire store: While the wheels were at the powdercoaters, I had the car up on jackstands so I fixed a small, nagging problem with the front fascia and installed a set of 8000K HID fogs and upgraded my stock HID low beams for a set of matching 8000K bulbs: Got the wheels back, unwrapped them and tried out the new center caps from BT: Got the new rubber wrapped around the wheels, got the car back on the ground and immediately went out to take some pics...LOL Overall, I'm very pleased with the mods. Those fogs really come in helpful now that Fall is here. It gets foggy here in Oregon! And with a 2mil clear powdercoat on the wheels, the finish should prove to be very durable and chip/ding resistant. yeah, I know...I need to lower it...gonna try and do that over the Winter this year.
Thanx, guys. I haven't seen that particular treatment on any LX platform wheels around here. And of course, they seem to look cleaner longer than the stock finish (which I hated!) so the brake dust doesn't change the look within a few miles of that first drive after I clean the wheels.
WOW now talk about being original and done nicely-Congrats great job. I wonder what your C would look like if the headlight housing were blacked out I bet it would look good?
WOW! Powder-coating the wheels was a great idea!! I LOVE HIDs! And, you're right, up in the NW, the winters suck and the extra light is nice. (The blackouts don't help, hee hee hee) Plus, it's dark before dinner. God, I hate this state!! :weep:
Thank you. I've thought about painting the insides of the headlight buckets...but...I have HID's and I believe they rely heavily on the reflective surface of the inner bucket. I really don't want to diminish the effectiveness of the headlights. I've seen it on other silver cars and it does look good. It would compliment the grip black mesh behind the grille for sure. But, I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna do it. I appreciate the kind comments!
wow...... i have never seen such a powder coated finish before!!! i actually really dig the look!!! now put some coil overs in that bad boy and really set it off!!! lol
Thank you. It's definitely different. I didn't want to do just black (I rejected the idea of black chrome), I didn't want to do regular chrome or a powdercoat silver. But I did want a mix of both...hence the finish I picked. I was a bit nervous about it but when I saw them after they were done, I felt really good about it. Thanks! Nicest part about this was it cost me $280 for all four wheels which included all the prep, masking, coating, remasking, coating then the clear. Coilovers are definitely on my list of things to do.
Looks nice!!! I just did mine too but i did it in Portland @ Masic industries, and i also have a pic of the car on the jack stands lol http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11094 I will also do the 8k fog lights the low beams when i get my new grill, all that at the same time! Very nice!!
