I like the new CTS-V a lot. If cars still run on gas in two years, I'll be looking for a used one. I owned a 2004 and 2005 CTS-V and had lot's of problems with the rear diff's grenading. 7 of them to be exact. I've own two 2006 300C SRT8's and have logged over 80,000 trouble free miles between the two of them.

yup, ill stick with an lx plus a stroker maybe even a big brake kit, susp, wheels and tires for less.
Remember that video well as it was the very one that had me stop looking at CTS-V's and focus on the LX platform before I finally got one.
I love my SRT8's, but I do miss the handling of the CTS-V. I've added the KW V2's, Hotchkis Sways, DC STB, Vredesteins and still couldn't match the handling of the CTS-V. Don't get me wrong, blistering the tires from stop light to stop light is a hoot, but there's something to be said for ripping through a corner at triple digit speeds with no worries. The SRT-8's are just a little heavy for that and 20 inch rims aren't ideal for road racing either. Like I've always said, at least we've got vehicles like this to choose from vs. what we had in the 80's and 90's.
Just reviving this discussion...the new Motor Trend magazine (December 2008) has a "Caddy Shock!" article... While I am very interested in the '09 CTS-V....there is a some talk of the new Cadillac Sport Wagon in 2010...Maggie lovers should be alert to this new vehicle. I am a huge wagon fan...and there are rumors of the CTS Sport Wagon becoming a CTS-V Sport Wagon! 556 boosted hp in a four wheel drive wagon would chime my bells in a way that seldom happens! Who else might be interested? Wagons Rock!
Exactly! I got wood just thinking about the possibilities...going a little further with the mental image...go to the larger sc that the ZR1 has, stiffen the suspension and re-tune...you could be running close to the ZR1 in a damn wagon, with quicker 60 ft times. Maybe there is a GM engineer listening...
No it takes a monumental event at my age...I keep thinking that I have wood, but after closer inspection I usually find that it is just a figment of my imagination...:blush: But an awd cts-v wagon would be Viagra to this old man:happy::happy::happy:
The numbers are starting to get compelling: $62,000 MSRP - $2,000 rebate through 1/5/09 - $6,000 GMS pricing (must know someone who works for GM) - $10,000 trade in for my tahoe (paid off) = $44,000. Damn I want one.
