Probably 10 hours of labor, and it won't do a single thing functionally for the car. But now I know everything is in top condition, and I'll feel a lot safer going 8.5 @ 160 in the spring.
"...took out ENTIRE back of race car..." That's all of it!? You're doing 8.5 and that's all that's holding you off the ground? somehow I just expected it would look more substantial than that.
That's All It Takes When You Go In A Straight Line. Did You Replace Any Of The Ladder Bar Bolt? Might Not Be A Bad Idea While You Are There.
It actually struck me as I was doing all this: The entire rear chassis is two bolts holding the ladder bars, and the two bolts holding the rear end to the two rear shocks. And then of course you hook up the driveshaft, and there's a brakeline to each side. But yes - there's some VERY important bolts on that thing. didn't replace any bolts, but did remove, inspect, and reinstall and torque every single nut and bolt. It took forever because absolutely everything was taken apart. I even polished individual nuts and bolts before reassembly. Actually - I already did the front end. I should take pics of that. There's not even a crossmember. the two fram rails are held together ONLY with the front and mid motor mount plates, and one tube at the very front of the car.
as long as you inspected it all i'm good. i should have my car out of the trailer this week, i will post some pics.
