So I got the following off another forum, and asked questions about it but got no answers. Can someone explain it or tell me if its true? "Regarding the power issue,You need to reset the addaptives every few weeks- our cars "learn" slow driving habbits and adj accordingly. when you want speed, your programing wont allow it. Do this: 1) key in but off 2) pull fuses 11,14 &16 from front fuse block 3) turn key to start,(but do not start) hold 5-10 sec for chime 4) turn key to On 5)turn key to start,,(but do not start) hold 5-10 sec. for chime again 6) turn key to off 7) replace fuses 8) done 9) try a run with esp full off ( for full off, hold esp button 5-10 for chime) otherwise esp is only 60% off Necessary often, normal driving kills power"
i dont see why you would need to constantly reset your adaptives once theyve learned your driving mannerisms. as far as i know, all you need to do is pull fuse 11 and drive like a bat outta hell for the first i dont know how many miles.
I was considering it because I don't know how the previous owner was with his/her driving and the second consideration is it will be doing a lot of stop and go with me. Might not need to be done at all, I was just unsure how accurate the information was.
pulling fuse 11 basically resets your car. only takes a few seconds so it wouldnt hurt to do it anyway.
Being that its "adaptive" it learns and adjusts for how you drive. If you drive like an ass, then drive like an ass, if you drive like Miss Daisy, then drive like Miss Daisy. Over time and depending upon your local climate the car will respond. I've only messed with fuse 11 when installing modifications that might affect the performance, like cat-back exhaust or a different CAI. Granted, I'm not a dude, so I don't feel the need to meddle with the car much...
Idk bout this fuse pulling stuff, I know guys swear by it but in my experience if you just drive the car hard for a while it'll adapt. In my case I drive it both easy and hard, depends on where I'm driving and what I'm doing. Commuting is easy driving, twisty driving is hard driving, car never lets me down. At the track last time I noticed on the way home the car was a BEAST, just rarin to go!! That came from just the 5 runs I had down the strip that day. I'd just drive it how you want to drive it for a bit and see.
Stay off of Chargerforums. lol You do not need to reset the adaptives every couple of weeks. It is a myth. IMO Do yourself a favor and purchase a Diablo Predator from one of our great Supporting Vendors. You can then install one of the Diablo Canned Tunes to give your whip some more giddy up and go.
And yes, stay away from chargerforums... hive of filth and villainy or some such... Nah, its not that bad...I just look at it as occasional comic relief...but not a tech resource.. lots of pink elephants and urban legends floating around..
that's the beauty of the Predator. If you need to have warranty work done, you can throw the factory tune back in it before going to the dealer. hehe To load a tune only takes about one minute.
And like Ron is always sayin, a dealer can't just VOID your warranty cause you have an aftermarket part on your car, they have to PROVE it caused the problem. You're fine with the Pred, just to be sure do like Ron said and put the stock tune back in before taking it in, that way you avoid any hassles at all.
