On the highway in New Jersey today bringing home take-out for the kids; minding my own business. A white Mustang GT follows me thorugh the entrance toll and blasts past me on the right shoulder of the entrance ramp. I zip over to the passing lane and let the Hemi stretch out. Soon I am easing by the Mustang. "That thing sounds good", I thought. He had a nice exhaust system on it. Those Muustangs have distinctive sound. I walked on by him and crossed the bridge into Pennsylvania. As I followed a slow car through the toll booth at the entrance of the Pennsy Turnpike, out of the corner of my eye, I see the white Mustang blast through an empty EZPass lane and shoot into the turnpike passing lane. As soon as my toll lane cleared out, I went to catch the stang. Up ahead I saw a granny driver pull out in the passing lane in front of the Mustang. I pulled up behind him and rode there for about a half mile. There was a long line of traffic in the slow lane so no way to get besuide him. The granny driver in front of him pulled over, he waved bye-bye in the rearview mirror, and I see smoke from his exhaust as he nails it. I can tell from two intermittent puffs of smoke from the exhaust that he is going through the gears hard. At WOT, Born Again Hemi is on his tail fast. I had to feather the throttle at WOT as I am in his a$$ like an angry proctologist. I was looking at him in his rearview mirror hoping he was looking back at me. A song came to mind "You say goodbye and I say hello". I was so close on him that I figure, if he brake checks, I'll be in his front seat. There is no room in the right lane to go around him. Anyway, before you know it, we come up on passing lane traffic again. We both took the same exit from the turnpike. As we went through adjacent EZPass toll lanes, he looked over at me and gave me a big thumbs up! Yeah. I love this Hemi.
Sorry. This was definitely not the viper! I need to edit the title to "Another mustang bites the dust."
