So here is my story of the past 4 days....I was driving to Nor Cal from So Cal for my grandma's funeral, everything was going fine, and as I was going over the Grape Vine, all of a sudden my car lost complete power. Like, you press on the gas and NOTHING. So I pulled over, restarted the car, and things went back to normal. About 5 minutes later it did it again. Pulled over, did the same thing. At this point the Check Engine light came on. I finally made it over the Grape Vine and off the freeway. I unplugged the ECU to see if it would reset it, and nothing. By this time, my car WILL NOT shift out of first. When I put it into gear the entire car jumped forward. So I was all f&#@!!!! :mad2:

I had to call a tow truck, and they towed it to Bakersfield Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge. They determined it was the 2-3 shifting silinoids. They dropped the pan to check everything out, cleared the codes, and said I was good to go. So I drove it home just fine, been driving it around this weekend just fine, and then last night came. Started it up, it SLAMMED into gear, and then wouldn't shift out of first. Check Engine light is on too. So I had it towed to the dealership I bought it from this morning, Lithia Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge in Concord. So that is the point I am at now. I'm sitting here waiting for them to call me back to see what's up. I have been stressed out all weekend because I was supposed to be at work this morning in So Cal, but I am stuck in Nor Cal.

SO....do you guys have any idea what could be happening? It has 25K on the clock, and it has a tune, not a good one though. The tranny just keeps going into limp mode. My car has been completely fine until now. I am so completely pissed off. YOu pay almost 50K for a car that can't even make it 400 miles. AHHHH! Anyway, if you guy can help me out, that would be awesome. Thank you for reading this whole thing, I know it was long.

Do you know what the CEL code was?
Did you try putting the stock tune back on it?

Wow that really sux, sorry to hear, I'd be pissed too ... $50K and can't go 400 miles!! Do the Jeeps have the same tranny as the other 8s?? Just wondering, don't know bout the 4x system and what all is used. Anyway, I'd think the same thing as Quick and Bama, load the stock tune back in and see if that fixes things.

Hey Wade, pardon my dumbazz question but ... do the Jeeps have to have the same size tires on all 4 wheels like other AWD systems out there?? I know a lot of you jeep guys stagger tire sizes and I'm wondering how that affects the system.

I forget the number but I think you need to keep them within 5%(?) diameter front to back.

Yeah you have to do the math just right if you are going bigger/smaller than the stock sizes and keep the difference within tolerance

    Stock sizes:

    . SRT 20" x 9.0" (front, 36.2 lbs.) / 20" x 10.0" (rear, 37.6 lbs.)
    Forged aluminum wheels, polished face

IMO, like the others, go w/stock tune to see if it helps.
The Jeep tires are front 255/45ZR20, rear 285/40ZR20, but most are switching to 275/40/20, 315/35/20. The dia has to be the same or very close. http://www.tiresizecalculator.info/

I was just asking cause I thought I remember seeing her post up bout getting new tires and was wondering if that might be the problem. My 2 cents (worth .0000001 cent in this economy, lol!).

More likely the tune. How long have you had the tune in and did you make any recent adjustments?

Here is the problem guys....My predator is in So Cal, and I'm in Nor Cal. I know, I am an idiot for not having it in my car. I just took it out the other day too. Frickin sucks. So ya, no stock tune for me. It's in the dealer as is. But I played the dumb blonde girl, so I don't think they are worried about me having a tune in it. They already said everything was being covered under warranty.

Edit: My tune has been in there for over 10K miles...

Our stock oem tires are 29.0 and 29.1 in tall and the Michelin tires are front 275/40/20 and rears are 315/35/20 and there are 28.60 in tall so there with in the 3% and these tires will also lower your gear ratio from 3.73 TO 3.82 and i think the tires TAM bought are also 28.7 in tall.

Yeah you really need the predator so you can check the code and see what it says.

I think it's too late for that I believe she is having them force out the CMR tune.

Do you think the 315/275 tires have any adverse effect?
