I am. I am TIRED of reading stories of how an SRT8 got walked and the opposing sports car is stock. I am TIRED of reading stories of how an opposing sports car that has mods similar to an SRT8 with mods would kill it due to the weight of an SRT8. I am TIRED of reading about how an SRT8 got walked by a couple of cars when running on the big end of a race. I am TIRED of how a cammed, headed, blown, juiced opposing sports car posts and talks trash about how they "killed" a stock or mildly moded SRT8 and how folks who have NEVER even raced an SRT8 turn around and pile on like they really "know". Fact for me is this; the few races that I have run across and have begun with a stare from the opposing cars, have ended with a "What the hell is in that thing?" look afterwards win or lose. For the most part, I get the stares and the "Hey look! That's the SRT8 model!" and nothing else. I NEVER look for a race but just once, I would love to run into one of these opposing sports cars that think SRT8s "are pigs" and "pieces of junk" to end the ignorance. The "Well you're modded so it wouldn't be fair" crap is BS to me. I am driving a 4500lb STATION WAGON (me included) against sports cars/sedans. If you don't want the embarassment of possibly getting beat by a "tank", don't race one and don't going around talking noise about how an SRT8 is slow, fat, ugly, junk when 90% of the cars can't beat a SRT8 model stock, no less a modded one. Correct me if I am wrong, but other than the CTS-V and recently released G8, NO OTHER American car company even had or considered a four door car(300/Charger SRT8), station wagon (Magnum SRT8) or SUV (GCSRT8) that was on the power level or for the cost of any SRT8 model. NONE!! Hell, the Magnum SRT8 was compared in a Motor Trend article to an E55 Merc AMG wagon costing twice as much and acquitted itself quite well I might add. The Charger SRT8 performance numbers were compared against the big boys from Europe (AMG, M and Audi) in a Car and Driver article and again acquitted itself quite well. The 300CSRT8 was compared to a Cadillac CTS-V in a past Car and Drive article, again acquitting itself quite well. In a Road & Track article , the GCSRT8 was tested against and KILLED a TBSS model but we all know that the performance of the GCSRT8 is equal and better than that of ANY performance SUV today, foreign and domestic. Long story short, there are plenty of us that have stock or modded SRT8s that would love to run against the stock and even modded naysayers. If I lose to a modded sports car, I have no problem with that; I run what I brung, but I am DAMN sure not losing to many stock ones and that includes cars considered superor to mine. The pleasure comes from giving those folks a bit of pause because the potential of losing to a station wagon is a bit much for most, if not all sports car drivers can even begin to handle...

Let them be ignorant. It gets me more races to "educate" them. There will always be a backlash from the brand fan-boys. Don't let it bother you, just keep kicking a$$.

Last week, at the track, there was a 2002 vette with a modified LS7 engine; the guys best ET that night was a 12.31, my cars best was a 12.37. After seeing my ETs, the corvette guy did not wanted to race my charger SRT8. They just can't believe that a full size sedan can keep up with their heavily modified "sports cars".

It doesn't bother me as much as wanting those same brand fan boys to "step up" when the come across an SRT8. Get some...

And let me preface my statements in saying by no means do I expect to beat everything that I run against. If I lose, much respect. Just that some of these so- called "SRT8 kill stories" are pretty damn funny...

The Jeep SRT8, TBSS arguement was annoying as hell at one time.

Also, this post is NOT based on losing a race or has any anger in it. More laughable than anything else because of the multiple stories posted. Please don't read anymore into what is posted.

First thing people say to me when they see how fast my 5400LB truck is "dam, that thing is fast...what shot of nitrious are you using"....that is the first thing they ask the SRT8 guys I know at the track...they seem to think there is no way these vehicles can do what they do without a bottle...:dumb:

funny..... i do not seem to run across to much of the "uneducated" in my area..... when i drive, most people i come across with a car that might be one that likes to "play", they always seem to just look and nod, but nothing else. it is pretty funny to glue your 2 ton brick to the bumper of an older c5 type vette and see the drivers face when you pull up next to him!!! lol

That's my favorite. The WTF look, especially from Vette owners. Its as if my 2-ton sedan just blew your mind along with blowing your doors off. I think I want to get a plate surround that says, "That just happened...to you."

It is important to notice that a lot of this SRT8 killing stories never involved a SRT8 model. A lot of times they ran against a RT. A lot of people dont seem to know the difference. In LS1TECH.com there was a lot of confusion with this fact. Slowly the SRT8 have been gaining the respect they deserve. Now you see threads where long time members trash newbies stating a SRT8 kill with stock LS1 cars!

I was thinking that too. Especially with the 300C SRT Design model that has the look but none of the cajones. Plus, how many LX owners have swapped to the SRT fascia(s). The Daytona Charger has a spoiler like the SRT8. There are just too many small differences for non-Mopar people to tell the models apart.

I recently ran a new Nissan 350z in the highway. It had all the aftermarket spoilers and body kits imaginable, flashy wheels, suspension etc...

He saw me, squared up to me....it was on! he got a slight jump ahead but, has we were building up speed, the Maggie became the true monster it is and just passed him like it was standing still...The dudes face was priceless.

Needless to say he avoided me the rest of the way untli I got off the highway!!! LOL!

This is all very true. I agree when SRT8 are compared in mags they are up against much more expensive vehicles, such as the GC against $90k Porch. Classic.

There is a flip-side to all this.

Its like finding a great little restaurant that not many other people know about. You and your trusted friends know about it, but its not commercial or too big. Its still an honest place with great food/wine and good value. They know your face when you come to visit. And only a small group is privy to just how great it is.

Then the Food Network broadcasts your place to the rest of the nation...now its essentially a Chili's and you're greated by a 17 year old with braces who doesn't know you from the next guy.

The point of this rant (besides that I'm bored at work on a Saturday), is to ask if you would really WANT everyone to know how great these vehicles are? I know I wouldn't. If wanted a "performance" car that everyone else had, I'd get a Mustang.

You should see the look when the 2 ton Maggie put some moves on in a road course... I can not tell you how may times you see people walk up afterwards with that puzzled look on their face as to question if what they are looking at is that really a station wagon ..especially when you have passed some of them (C5's, BMW's, Nissan's, Mustangs, Mitsus, Honda's, etc etc..many are stock or slightly modded). I even gobbled up a Porsche GT2..but it was more a new driver in a car he was unsure of.. (cause when a guy familiar with the car got into it, it was all over for most everyone on the track including a few that were brought in on a trailer)...

I have said it more than once since getting my SRT.. for the money you put down you cannot go wrong.. even a few people who I have let drive my car (less than 5 who I really trust ) are impressed with the Mopar.

Even one of our guys in a local Mopar club who is a die hard 60's Mopar guy.. he picked up his new SRT Challenger .. and got a whole new perspective on the new Mopar.. he said the old Mopar may have little more kick in the pants as far as brute power, but when one adds in the handling, braking , responsiveness.. it does not even come close as to which one he likes as a drivers car... but come on he is comparing it to a factory original Hemi Cuda..

You can get more.. but you will spend more... so to those that are envious.. go spend you money and get modded to keep up with a stock SRT..

TNViper, I forgot about the SRT10 Ram trucks. My bad but I know based on your truck that they can be bad as hell!!!

Good feedback fellas. We know what we own and it's capabilities. Just good damn cars/truck/SUV line for the SRT4/SRT6/SRT8/SRT10 line. I have a few friends with Vettes; two C6s and one C5 but my next car, when I am blessed to be able to make that purchase, will be a SRT10 Viper. I've always liked the car and have always wanted one. When I got a chance to drive one at the SRT experience, that was it.
