Well its time and I remember Ron telling me about some plugs to check out but I do not remember I think the stock ones are fine should I just go back with them? Stock: 6.1 V8 Hemi Mopar (NGK) P/N SPLZTR5A13 (0.50 gap, 16 plugs, tighten to 13 ft. lbs.*)
....come on man, I thought you knew dam near everything..... LOL Get the NGK iridiums, 1 step colder than stock.....gap about .048. That is what I have in my Jeep now. With the high NOS shot I had 2 steps colder and gap at .038. They can be had on e-bay for a good price.
The service interval is 30,000 miles for the spark plugs. I'm in the same boat, stock engine, about to replace plugs. What benifits are there with going to a colder plug?
30,000 miles is for 5.7 engines and 102,000 is for 6.1 engines. In the manual Under maintance (PARTS A & B there the same for the 6.1 ).
Actually both A & B service intervals indicate 30,000 for all http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_maintenance.htm#SPARK
I'm using these:http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=5 Spark plugs are often misunderstood by most people. A spark plug's name is quite literal. They are designed to plug the line - and suppress any spark that may come through. Of course, you know what happens if a spark finds an open fuel source!! That could get ugly! KaleCoAuto extra retardant plugs block 99% of spark, and allow 95% of ignition molecules to pass through. That's 25% more than the competition, and unlike the competition, KaleCoAuto plugs never need cleaning. jk lol Seriously, Which is better performance wise copper or iridium?
TXSkye the guys that run NO2 normally run colder plugs. I think to help with pre ignition problems. The cylinder temps are higher so that's why a "colder" plug is needed.
Wade read the maintance manual in the book that came with the jeep it says 102,000 replace plugs. Page 360 schedule B and page 366 schedule A
Luck man i have been threw so many sets of plugs I cant even keep count. it seems I change them more often than the oil
cool, that's going to save my some money by not buying 16 spark plugs. Just one more way to justify replacing my shietbach springs with bwoodys.
