Got rid of my 150 gal saltwater and two 30 gal fresh water last year. I'll see if I can find some of the pics.
Nice...I like fish tanks. Haven't had one since we broke our 150 gallon tank a couple years ago. Lucky for us a neighbor had a tank big enough to save the fish.
here is a pic of my 55 gallon with two oscars....... the rest of the fish got eaten long ago by these monsters!!! heheheheh when i still was in cali, i had a 320 gal mounted in the wall that had a full reef set up and allllllll the friggin equipment!!! used to simulate the lunar cycles and all!! friggin nasa would have been impressed with it!!! when i moved, it was sold with the house!!! bummer for sure!!!
Lee, that is one of the nicest looking Fresh Water tanks I have seen. It is obvious you take pride in the tanks and know what you are doing. hahaha to the Oscars. The fuggers are badass. A good friend has two Saltwater tanks. One for aggressive fish and the other caters to Coral living fish. Very pretty tanks and fish.
Lee and Chris, those are some awesome tanks! Very nice! I would take pics of ours but Cheryl drew a bunch of holloween stuff all over it (ghosts, pumpkins, bats). I will though post pics at a later time. We have (3) Cichlids... 1 is a Blue Tiger while the other 2 are Jack Dempsey Cichlids.
I just sold my 240 saltwater tank. I hada hawain dragon eel. That thing was the coolest eel ever. I have had many freshwater tanks but salt water IMO is not that much harder and is so much prettier. Let me get on my vcomputer at ome and I will put up some pics
That is so the tank I was trying to get...I had two Oscars (1 white / 1 reg) and a giant Placostumus (spelling - one of those sucker fish) The oscars were small at the time, only about 3" ea...I was hoping to get them bigger. The kids name the sucker fish Godzilla, cause it was @ 8" long. Didn't want the oscars to eat him.
I had a 55 Gallon freshwater at one point which sat on top of a double door wooden stand- 2 double charcoal water filtration systems, 2 double air pumps, 1 castle, 1 fake looking rock/cave, a few plants.... As far as fish go, I had a Plecostamus which was about 8", a Tricolor shark almost a ft. long, 3 Angelfish which I had to sell since they got very territorial and beat up alot of fish- forget how big those were- at least 6" from tip to tip each- various colors, had a chocolate catfish, 1albino catfish, a tiger catfish, 2 silver dollars, some neon tetras, as well as some freshwater frogs which were very cool! and one or 2 goldfish just for good measure- these are the fish that I can recall at the time- ahd the tank for well over 10 years- got rid of it since we took down a tree in front of the window it was near which resulted in alot of algae forming and the upkeep just got too much- great hobby though- ill have a saltwater tank one day!
I have been researching Saltwater tanks for a bit now and im very interested in them. I really want a shark! I have been looking at 180Gallon tanks.
I have read larger saltwater tanks are easier to maintain, but stocking (rock and coral) it is expencive. I keep threatening my wife with a 120 gallon
My Koi... Largest one is about 18" (big orange & black blob). Approx 1200 gallon multi-level pools & waterfalls.
So If your gign to set up a tank go as big as you can. I would stay away from corals for a few years till you know what you are doing. Ask Norcalsrt8 he has a few coral tanks because he likes pretty little things that dont move. Kinda like his car. I had a tank full of rare eels and fish that would rip gold fish apart. Nothing like dropping a bag of 50 gold fish in my old 240G tank. it was crazy scales everywhere
The first pic looks like a Frontosa.....i had several that were 2-3 times that size and they are worth alot of money when they get big. I sold mine when i moved for $500.00 apeice!
Our fish tank as of yesterday included (2) Jack Dempsey Cichlids, (2) Geophagus Cichlids, (1) Tire Track Eel. Unfortunately sometime last night while we were asleep one of our Jack Dempsey's passed away. Only picture I have at this time taken from my cell phone and the Jack Dempsey you see in the picture is the one that passed away. We plan on upgrading to a much bigger tank as the minimum required tank from what I've researched for the tire track eel is 150 gallons.
yea but I dout your eel will live that long to need a tank that big. I have had many tire track eels and a bunch of fire eels. you can get away with a 100 gallon no problem
