Wow.... I thought that clunk noise was my control arm bushings. So I replaced one at school and was planning on doing the second one on Monday the 29th. Well low and behold I did a little launch and I heard that noise again, cept it was a bit louder. So I get home and let the car cool down for a bit and pop open the hood and discover my upper motor mount bolt was broke! So how the hell am I going to get that thing out? Centerpunch, drill, easy out? I remember when I did all my solid motormounts that it would be a good idea to upgrade the bolts. But I decided against it. I also used a tad bit of the red loctite when I was installing them last year. So I am probably going to need heat it up, maybe not. Any ideas on how I can get this fixed? Looks like those two bolts for that cap can come out and that piece can be replaced so I don't have to take that broken bolt out. I believe I have been driving around like this for quite some time...
well here it is sitting in front of me: I couldn't put that one washer on thats stuck on the bolt. Couldn't thread it out or pull it off. Totally forgot about that crush washer too. Not sure where the crush washer goes. But I know where the one on the bolt goes. Does the crush washer go up against the bracket. I assume so. So I just have the big washer on the new bolt.
on all the MM I've done I dont remember any of the having a lock washer. Good to see you got that piece of bolt out. BTW I always use blue loctite on MM bolts. lol
Well I ordered the Grade 12.9 ones from MPX. Should be getting them soon. On another note. the red loctite isn't as bad as people say it is. I had to take out my lower mm to do my control arm bushing on Monday and it came out fine with an impact. You could even still smell the loctite on the bolt. I will use blue next time though.
