Another one of those..my car is old.. things I noticed a few months back that I heard a squeaking noise, similar to brake noise, coming from the rear when I accelerate enough to cause a weight transfer to the rear of the car. Figuring this is related to the suspension/shocks. It's not very loud or anything, just something I've noticed. Ideas? Advice? -Tam
Tam: time to lube up those Hotchkis Bushings.. Thats what they do best when the grease gets used up... I had that same problem when i had hotchkis on a previous vehicle..
Hotchkis' says you need grease the bushings once a year. You can buy the grease from their site and in the comments request the 90 degree zerks fitting. They will throw it in for free. The problem is you need to drop the rear cradle to do this.
Had them installed a year ago this month, before that weekend I went on my last track day and got preggers. Wow..what a year..
Alright, got my bushings greased today. Turns out my swaybars came with the 90* fitting already and the install shop used generic grease/lubricant stuff instead of the good goopy silicone stuff. Tested them out a little on the way home, nice handling, NO squeaking. :thumb:
We never had to drop the cradle. We had our club pit crew run out and get a flex hose for the grease gun and all was well.
thats a great idea, so you didnt have to replace her other part? thats great. i wonder if i can get away with the same thing....i need to be re-lubed. haha. though i have a ramp at my apartments that i was thinking of using.
