i wanted to remove the key lock cylinder from my drivers door but was concerned what would happen if the battery died that i would have no way to unlock the door. if i could get the hood open i could atleast jump it to use my keyless remote. so i came up with a cable that is run to the hood latch that you can pull from the inner fender panel. just remove the pins, pull the cable and the hood is open. here are some pics. i used some 1/16" cable with green jacketing and attached it to the latch, no drilling the holes were already there. then i ran the cable thur a series of 3/16" eye bolts (one that i bent 90 degrees) to keep the cable from rudding the headlamp. than ran it under the headlamp under the support brace turning the cable back toward thr tire. then just put a loop in the cable to act as a pull cord. hopefully i will never need this but if i do it will be easier then slim jiming the door. if anyone would like one of these kits let me know i can make them and send them to you. i have about $20.00 in parts involved with all the nuts and washers. i am not looking to make any money on these just help out other forum members.
Very nice Ralph. Not sure I would have publicized where the pull loop is located though. lol And let me tell you, Maureen's remote door openers have been a nightmare. I think we finally have the issues fixed, but I will tell you this, me and my locksmith buddy can get into the truck in just under 10 minutes now. lol
 Ya i don't think it would be that big of an issue, they still cant get into teh car without breaking into it as its still locked up
ron you know this car does not leave my sight, lol, unless we are at spring fling then i know you are watching.
That's thinking ahead. Also another option if the hood release somehow breaks. Wish the Calibers had a easily accessable mechanical cable or a keyed hatch release, it's limited to the power door locks. They have a backup release but requires detrimming the hatch panels, nuts! Soo electrically 12v dependent.
Hey Ralphy, Glad to see you were working on the car in the garage without shoes!!!!!!!!! The pedicure looks good:grin:
