My tailpipe is very black, which usually means the car is running rich. I never smelt any gas like I did in my last car and it's pipes weren't black.
Mine is too, I'm sure that the stock ECU mapping is set to run rich during WOT on these things to help lower the engine temps and to help with engine longevity.
if you notice, there is a little smoke that puffs out at WOT. guy at the SRT experience said it was normal
Pretty much normal with all of the SRT lines. The wife's (mrssrt10) SRT10 pipes are very black. My Chargers (SRT8) pipes were black when I was bone stock. Just like Rajunz stated.
Really?.... i have never had an issue... is that because my stock exhaust lasted exactly 12 miles or because I only had a stock tune in my car for like 3 months? Or just due to the excessive cleaning i do?
My JGC SRT8 was really bad with that, the Charger is not so bad, but I do have a B&G tune on the Charger now.
All of the above Stevie... The tune is the main factor. It leans the engine up and gains more horsies. hehe See above Tony. And quit stealing free internet while sitting in Manhattan. lol
I refuse to use free wifi zones!!!! I make the people who dont lock there routers pay by cutting there bandwith in half. MUUAAAMUAAAAMUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
my stock exhaust never really that black. Maybe a little on the inside, but not bad. I do recall my A/F rations being something like 14.8 stock though. Sounds kind of rich to me
Stoich at idle will always be 14.7. Unless you have a way to tune through O2 sensors Computer Determined AFR is 14.7. Where the stock Cali's have issue is at WOT. 10.8 at redline is a bit richoh: This is what causes the black soot you see on the tailpipes.
you mean like an AEM FIC? lol. yeah I haven't checked my AFR at WOT yet, I probably should... oh well hopefully getting tuned today
