Sorry if this is a reprint, but it caught my eye between bouts of SQL scripting.

    From Motor Authority:

I'm just curious how this could translate to the SRT line if at all.

IIRC, MT stated 3 diffefent hp rating for the 5.7L for '09(376, 381, 390?). & yes, the 6.1L gets nada. :(

Probably because the 6.1's have no MDS system and they are trying to work on things that get the best MPG/HP results.....the 6.1 is not going to be the flagship engine for the coming years or the one that eventually get hybridized....

And I'm glad, I just bought mine and I would be royally pissed if they got an engine upgrade

the 09 5.7 head will be on the 2010 6.1 motor with revised intake/exhaust runners as well as larger valves. Expect a 20hp bump in 2010.

OK, so can I put ported '09 5.7L heads on my 6.1L & get better results than ported 6.1L heads?

No one will know till they try. As soon as we have a set done, we will install them and let everyone know.

Interesting they say the hemi dates back to the '50s. The only thing that goes back is the name hemi. The new engines have nothing in common with my 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer's Super Red Ram hemi. The new engines are Mexican-built and not even hemis. Development on the new ones started with hemispherical combustion chambers but by the time they finished, they were no longer actual hemis but the name sells and they kept it. The new R/Ts with almost the same h.p. and torque as the 6.1s but $10K less look like a great deal. When the convertible comes out I might have to grit my teeth and buy a Canadian car with a Mex engine.........
