We now have our 25% underdrive pullies in stock and ready to ship. These pullies were good for 11rwhp on a stock SRT8 and 14rwhp on our 426 300. They are SFI approved as a harmonic balancer. This is not just a pulley that could vibrate and destroy your engine, it is an actual balancer as well. Cost is $249.99 including the belt and bolt needed for install. We are also having a group buy on these. If we get 10-19 orders, the price will be $219.99 and if we get 20+ orders, the price will be $199.99 with free shipping to the continental US.
Can you explain what is does? Are their any possible negative side effects? I asked a buddy and he said "don't do it, especially if it's more than 20%" He didn't elaborate so can you please?
It's the drive pulley for your main belt that drives the accessories like a/c, alternator, etc. If you make it smaller the belt doesn't turn as fast so the accessories don't turn as fast. Turning the accessories slower doesn't take as much horsepower from the engine so you have more to put to the drive train. That's my understanding.
These are supposed to be deveoloped so there are no negative effects on accessories. Everything should still work just like stock.
The reason for the bad rep that most underdrive pullies have is because most of them are not balancers nor are they SFI approved. With the pulley not being a balancer, it could contribute to engine failure since there isnt anything to absorb the bad vibrations from the crank. These pullies are balanced and are legal for use in all NHRA/NMCA/NMRA races since they are SFI approved. None of the accessories are impacted negatively with the use of this component. We have had one on our car for 13,000 miles with no signs of failure from any component. If you raise the idle up to 800rpm, all the accessories will be spinning at the same speed as they did when stock.
How time consuming is the install on these? I'm interested but I think my AC has always been a little weak so I'd be taking your word for it. My car idles at 800 anyways so that's good to know.
This is a fact...at least on my car. I wouldn't even know it was there if I couldn't look down and see it...and I idle at 700 rpm.
Chill Milan, its nothing related to the pullies. Just an inside joke.. Sorry, I am eyeing these though!!
You know...... I was watching a Horsepower TV show once and they were at a drag race somewhere. One car owner was talking about his engine and he made a strange statement when he was stalking about the engines power He had a big block 2000 HP drag race engine with HUGE supercharger. He said it would make 3000 HP, but it takes 1000 HP just to spin the supercharger. What a load a supercharger is. Think about that one for a while.
