My wife was startled to see this guy on our deck railing today. I've never seen a frog like it in my life. Anyone know what kind it is?

I think its a toad. Catch it, lick its back, if you take a trip on the "dark side of the moon", it's a "cain toad". If you don't get the trip, its just a garden variety toad (and we all get to laugh our asses off at you for licking the toad).

Where do you live, and what kind of trerrain is close by, where is closest pond, lake, stream, wooded area, landscaping etc?

All toads are frogs. Not all frogs are toads.

Turns out, it's an eastern gray tree frog.

Apparently they can change colors too. From gray to green to match their background.

He looks pretty cool in those pics IMO. Like one round blob, just waiting to eat something going by.

Make sure he's not a "middle eastern" tree frog (Osalma Ben Froggin).

Cool photo though, we should have an "ad the caption" contest for the little fellow"

No. Your answer was too generic. Only half credit for you.

She's plumb tuckered out trying to find that prince. She's stuck with a toad.

Dude - you need a new hobby. Actually - we tried to find it again, but couldn't find it.

That's the Western, Green, legless Momo frog. Known for doing nothing but sitting around complaining about having no mods.... or legs....

Might be an old and fat tree frog. I have trouble climbing trees anymore too so I hang out on the porch a lot.

    bald... you forgot bald.
