First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published

The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively.

I really like the new body style...lots of 3.6 L models running around our city and they have a great stance.

GM was quoting 12.0 and 0-60 in closer to 4. Seems like the power/weight combination could get those number too.

 

I think street tires are the limitation.

I would agree with this assumption 100%. 550HP in a car lighter than the LX's should definitely do better than a 12.5 in the 1/4.

 

Supposedly they have some kind of wicked launch mode on that thing too.

 

I guess I'm holding off on the C63!

Yeah I dont think you would be all that impressed with the C63, Andy just bought one a few weeks ago and was only running low 13's at the track and they come detuned unless you get the P30 package, honestly Stanko the C63 to me does not fit your style you seem to more of an SL550 AMG guy

 

Saw a black one in the parking garage at the hospital last night, but it wasn't one of the new ones. Badges arepretty cool.

 

sl 550? thats a nothing car with hardly any power. do you mean sl55? if so, that car is even weak in comparison to the new 63 motors.

personally, i would def go with the c63. NA 6.2 liter engine? the car is too new right now to have a lot of mods but just wait. brabus or renntech will do some crazy shit im sure.

They make the SL550 with a supercharger have personally drove it but I think it was a dealer only option as you do not see them at all. I personally like the roadsters out of all the MB

Those new CTS Caddys look sweet, they really dialed in the styling and the V looks even badder. AND it's got the power to back it up, what a car, I likey!
