Despite what Nissan claims, the GT-R is not making the advertised 480 horsepower.

Yea, Steve just forgot to add "price" then he'd be 100% accurate.

I'm goin with beckerb on the Mustang thing as I have a modded 80s fox bodied 5.0. I don't drive it much anymore but the one and only time I took it to the track YEARS ago (my first time at the track too) it ran 109 in the 1/4 (best in the maggie is 105). That was completely UNTUNED without even a chip, just the stock ecu, plus my crappy newb driving yet it was still that fast. Weight is the issue, those year Mustangs barely weighed 3000 lbs. Plus the 5.0 motor was made to be modified. In fact the market got so big it became THE car to have to mod, like the old 60s Camaros used to be. For cheap-fast there's not much better than an older Mustang.

Anyway, back on topic ... I think pretty much everyone realizes Nissan underrates the GT-R, all you have to do is look at the numbers. And aren't they supposed to be coming out with a special lighter weight/higher horse version?? Dang, for the money I think it beats the Vette for best back for the buck!

From the numbers it's putting down I knew it had more power than the advertised 480HP, but in reality who the fu*k cares! I can't afford it and I'm sure alot of people hear can't either. If I come across one on the street I know its going to spank me so I probably won't even try to mess with it. On the other hand...if a GT500 wants to play around then its game on!!! With the lack of traction of the GT500's off the line I'm pretty confident I can take out a stock one no problem!

You might be right, but I haven't had the chance to play around with one. I've seen a couple of them around my area, but haven't had the opportunity to find out. I'd really like to see how BAD they really are!
