so now.....California has a law about how QUIET your car can be.... they need to make up their minds already! hahaha.... so now i have my defense for when the popo stop me for my exhaust... "im sorry officer...i was only looking out for the blind community" California: Green cars too quiet SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- Electric and hybrid vehicles may be better for the environment, but the California Legislature says they're bad for the blind. It has passed a bill to ensure that the vehicles make enough noise to be heard by visually impaired people about to cross a street. The measure would establish a committee to study the issue and recommend ways the vehicles could make more noise. The state Department of Motor Vehicles says more than 300,000 of the vehicles are on state roads. Officials say they don't keep statistics on pedestrian accidents involving those vehicles. The bill has been sent to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has not taken a position.
well I will assure the legislature that when I am drive next to a "Green" car, EVERYONE will be able to hear. hahaha Or should I say, everyone will be defend by the exhaust. hehe
The bunch from Sanfrancisco will probably recommend adding those hand operated bicycle bells so the blind can hear you commin ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching!
If there wasn't proof before at how f'd up our state is there is now. Jesus H Christ what will they think up next?!?! Seriously. :stars:
I suggest all these so-called Green cars get a PA system installed in their car that plays the sounds of a 6.1 HEMI with aftermarket exhaust installed. Problem fixed!!!
Are they going to make the new hordes of bicycle riders (think China) put cards in the spokes to make noises too? Silliness...
got them covered on the inside and out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWwJ9Iyc0-o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26U7Q-FAjdY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC55K1ZUgFs&feature=related
Well, having semi-recently taken the driver's test for a CA license, I recall there's a bit in the driving laws/rules/regs where you must be within four feet of the white line on the crosswalk so that blind folks know that you are there. So this makes sense. Still, pretty funny considering how much grief they give people over loudness.
