Hehehe, I luv stories like this. I grew up doing it all, motorcross, BMX, boards and skates. When I was in Jr high, we moved to Oklahoma. Coming from Cali with all kinds of new stuff, man........I was a superstar on a board to all them guys.

Well anyhow, more then a couple decades later (41-42). It's New Years Day, I'm just a tad hammered and my neighbors kid is practicing board slides on a parkinglot stop in his driveway. I'm like hey bud, let me show you hows it's done. So the first two attempts I didn't have enough speed to come off the backside with a 180.

The third time.........hell ya, this is enough speed.

F!, to this day, I still don't know what happened. All I remember is being way the F up in the air and coming down with my left leg wrapped up under my ass and landing on it. I didn't fricking walk for a month with that knee...........hahahaha.

Recently my son got a wave board :erm:............................

I'm getting pretty good at it. :thongue2:

i mean dont get me wrong anybody can get on a piece of wood 8-10 inches wide and30 inches long. and have SOME SORT of balance. within a couple hours doing ollies and board slides. when they fall they have the option to bail. on the other hand you strap on a set of skates you are commited to them. you cant toss it away or jump off if you are going to fall. i would like to see a skate boarder put my skates on and just do 1/10th of what i can do.. hell i rode a kids board at the park here the other day and within 20 minutes was doing HALF of what everyone else was doing. hell i was even catching air on the half pipe...

Skates is a lot harder then skateboards and bicycles. I did both in the past and gone through my share of bmx bikes and skateboards. Getting these skates has me in a whole different world.

You can lose your balance on a skateboard and bail out.
You can lose your balance on a bike and bail out.

Try doing it on skates... there's no "bail" option. Only choice is crash and burn. Its a high risk sport. I'm coming to learn that quickly. I've recouped from the weekend.

Funny thing is I was only practicing a basic grind... frontslide and still don't really have it down. Not to mention I was practicing on a rail that was probably just about 8 inches from the ground.

Scoping out the few aggressive inline skating websites/message boards I found. The frame and the wheels suck on the blades I got. That anybody with these skates should also get a set of anti's.

they are the best. the are the only frames that can support me going 12+ feet in the air and landing without snapping in 2

    Sweet! Nice setup bro!

I might order a GC frame with anti's on payday. Those Senate Sinner wheels I found here locally. So looks like I'll get those as well.

    Thanks for the insight!

Hopefully I get grinding and a few other things down. Don't want to give up.
