In this months HotRod magazine, They were running with a 392 crate motor as well, The car will only sell with either a 5.7, 5.9 or the 6.1L motor only,

Engine was re-positioned 17mm to the right and 75mm to the rear to improve drive line alignment and weight distribution, There all white in color,

The Side mirrors have been deleted, The wheelbase was shortened 1/2".

The test Car weighed in at 3260 with driver/fuel, and factory equipped Challenger weighs in at 4140lbs.
Heres what they shaved off, HVAC system, Sound deadener, Wiper motor and linkage, Airbags and Components, Stock fuel system, Exhaust system, Side door beams, Rear bumper reinforcement, Rear seats, Rear spoiler.

The trick lightweight pieces include, polycarbonate side windows, and a lift off composite hood with functional scoop and hood pins.

The other special unique equipment includes, manual steering, Viper style front seats, aluminum radiator with twin electric fans, cable operated trunk release, and a front cradle with a drop out cross member.

The Challenger Race package will NOT include a cage, Cars will come with stock Independent rear suspension, All this for somewhere in the mid 30's.
Car ran mid 10,s all day but a incorrect set of valve springs made the day end early according to the article.

From what I've heard they will have no VIN so you can't register it so it won't be street legal...bummer:cry2:

Would it be a candidate for conversion into a weekend circuit racer too with some suspension mods? (seeing as it doesn't have the solid axle I'd imagined it was going to originally).

That is so awesome. You better believe people will have these street legal soon enough. Hell I'm sure some people would be willing to use the VIN from their LX and park it.

The "manual steering" part of the drag package might be a problem. I wonder what kind of wheels it has. Track rubber would be an issue.

But 3200 lbs on a track car instead of 4400? Definitely a project car if you enjoy a challenge, no pun intended. But you'd need at *least* $10,000 to play with to get it into shape.

They won't sell them to you unless you are a seasoned racer and for racing only. I already said this.
I also said they would be in he 10's initially, and then in the 9's shortly.

    By the way:

I supplied the AFCO T2 double adjustable shocks that were used on the new Drag Pack cars that are out there, including the ones that Don Garlits and Judy Lilly drove at the Mopar Mile High Nationals!!!!

YES - Mopar chose to use the shocks sold by www.StreetRaceTech.com

    Yes it is!

I just got word today that Icould say something. I supplied the shocks back in June so they could put them on the drag pack cars at the NHRA Mile High Nationals.

I've got some pictures of the cars with the AFCO logo in front of the rear wheels. I'll post them up in a new thread later tonight.
