I have something for you ... Once we refine the Vortech on the stock engine and see how far that can go, we're planning to keep the 6.1 platform and forge the rods and pistons and see what the 6.1 displacement can produce. I have everything we need, and it's MUCH more affordable power to get a forged rotating assembly (you don't even need a new crank though) and Vortech and make some serious power! I'll try to check this thread, but feel free to PM or email me for more info too.
I believe a forged 370ci bottom end is going to end up within less than $1000 diff to a 392ci. The only real diff herre is a stroker crank, and you still need better crank than stock.
Thanks Lisa, I'm pumped to see what the 6.1 motor can handle. More affordable power means more money for road racing mods. It'll be one great fall if I can have my cake and eat it too. :huglove:
Lisa, a plain old forged bottom end that maintains my 6.1 displacement is what I was always wanting for my car... I'd be all over that like stink on a skunk for a decent price! Rick be sure to keep us informed of what Lisa has to say!
Let me guess, you're just now coming down off the bennies they gave you to do the Thai trip straight through...? Who said anything about drag racing? We know your application already. Primarily a track setup with some extra grunt for fun on the street, yada, yada. Baja isn't the drag strip but you're going to be wanting about 800 to 1000 hp and you're going to need the engine and drive train to support it. There you go. See, you could have done the whole reply in 8 words. So if it's 500 now and you're planning to do it in stages with more some time in the future it's going to make a difference on what you start with. That's all I was sayin. By the way. Did you ever hear back from your instructors? I forgot what the question was (I know it was fascinating)... something about tire width changes and whacking your suspension geometry?
