Man I came home after being out driving for about a hour (that was about the limit I could take the drone of my exhaust ).
We went out and came back about 4.5 hours later and I wanted to adjust my fuel lines in back of the intake and after 4.5 hours the intake was still just about to hot to touch.
Man 6.1 intakes look good but I would love to have a plastic one

That's all heat coming out of the engine. Plastic one and your engine would take longer to cool off.

I'll trade a HEMI engine bay temp for my Viper engine bay temp ANY DAY.

I had a 5.7 and it didn't take long for the plastic intake to cool.

When my intake was still very hot today the plastic valve covers were not

Sure, the plastic intake wouldn't be as hot because it isn't going to be conducting/radiating as much heat. BUT the heat that is being conducted/radiated is coming from the engine. So when you shut the engine off the only way for it to get rid of heat is through conducting surface area. The metal manifold provides a good bit of that. Otherwise it's mainly the surface area of the block. So the engine block should cool down quicker with a steel manifold on it than a plastic one. If you're just looking at the manifold then, yes, a plastic one will be much cooler. I guess what you want on there depends if you're changing your fuel lines or your oil filter .

You could try SPP's or BWoody's Intake Manifold Spacer. They're much thinner than those of days past and work to cool the intake manifold while driving. Unfortunately the intake will heat up significantly while just idling anyways. You could always get a Meth kit hehehe. I've had my BWoody thermanator on since May without issue.

ditto to what milan said! just was at a local m&g with some friends and two of us pulled in together after driving from the exact same location. same time, same distance, etc. open the hoods after 30 mins of driving in traffic, and my manifold could be touched and hand held on it after 10 mins. my friend, was still to hot to touch 45 mins after being turned off. i love my powdercoated intake and bwoody intake spacer/gaskets!!!

Get rid of the dub, its been dyno proven that the dub will actually lose more hp/tq than a stock box w/ a k&n drop in.

I can't remember where I read it, but I know I did somewhere. I know I read that it performed worse than a drop-in K&N too. They look nice though! hehe
