ok, as you guys now i bought the HKS bov and coldside up pipe and my dumbass didn't realize that you cant do this with the stock air box. SO..... my question is can you trust ebay CAI, I dont buy stuff from there buy i can't justify spending money that much money on a CAI which as of right now one do anytihing for me. I know neither will the BOV, but still.... its all ready been purchased. So if you would let me know what you guys think i would appricate it.
just remove the airbox and unbolt it from the pipe and use a clamp and secure your filter. or buy a replacement filter then clamp it on. instant intake. or you can just buy the ebay one. i have a short ram from one of the sellers on there and it work fine.
You can still use your stock intake as long as you have a K&N filter because the stock filter will just fall off. Just removed the big air box piece, unscrew (4 screws) that holds the intake filter neck to the air box. Clamp on the K&N filter to the end of it, the other neck piece that gave air from the fender well leave it sitting there with the sensor plugged into it and voila. Still stock intake without the giant air box. If you don't want to dish out that sort of money on an intake then do what I stated above OR search for sale forums for people selling an aftermarket one used for cheaper. I don't know about ebay intakes but really you don't want to buy one and then regret it.
if your just going for cheapest.. just take out entire air box, and clamp a K&N onto the intake piping, but your probably fine buying a CAI, or at least a short ram off ebay.
yea that sounds like a good idea. Its funny because i bought the K&N filter just the other day. Yea there are some on ebay that don't look bad, JDM Cai for $35 it dosn't seem to bad, almost to good to be true if you know what i mean. So the HKS BOV and AGP hard pipe will work with the plastic removed? It said it wouldn't work for stock air box or AEM short ram.
Yes, I ran it that way till recently because I got an aftermarket intake. My stock intake I ran without the airbox itself so I could run my JMB coldside pipe with HKS BOV. The thing about the stock airbox its so big and bulky and the way it tapers down the side of the frame that it doesn't give room for an aftermarket bov. So if you remove the airbox itself and keep the rest it will work.
Its a pipe with a filter on the end kinda hard to screw that up. You could probably go to autozone and get some tubing from there, i believe spectre is the brand they sell and has built ur own intake stuff.
What about a catch can from ebay? I found a couple on there for $11 which is cheap compared to the expensive G-reddy or any other i found which range over $100.
You can always go the budget route and do the "Budget Catch Can" which I think supplies total around $20. All things needed can be found at Home Depot or Lowe's. You would then need a check valve from RFR (Ramsey Family Racing) or Bwoody.
i had gotten a ebay catch can and blew the tube out and it was a greddy look alike. the can was all polished alumum. like Jesus said you can go to Lowes or Home depo and in the Air tools section you'll find water extractors, just take out the inside filter and it makes a good catch can.
yeah, honestly, i like the DIY catch cans MUCH better than the other ones.. the perrin ones especially are garbage (140$) for a piece of silicone that gets all discolored and a sight tube that gets clouded up. for like 14$ you can get the catch can, fittings, AND clamps from lowes. the screw off 'reservoir' makes for SUPER simple emptying and ability to see how much oil you have in the can.. theres even a 'flow' blocker, so the oil doesn't just go straight thru it.
